I think texbook wedge and column formations and stuff are usually a waste of time tbh, but when you're in wicca's squad he somehow makes it fun ;D That crazy Norwegian.....
Yeah some squad leaders take this game WAY too seriously. They treat it like we're in a real war zone where death actually matters. Don't get me wrong--I can appreciate when a squad is organized, but telling us to walk in a wedge or column formation (and constantly switch between the two or more) when no hostiles are in the area is pointless to me. It just wastes time IMHO and is hella annoying.
dunno about formations an stuff, but being prepared for an enemy behind every rock and corner is just good practice imo, it takes effort to care about being killed ingame I know (especially when you get over the shock of PR spawntimes) but your death means three things. 1) a medic has to start thinking about saving you AND staying alive at the same time which decreases his combat effectiveness, the squad has to pause to get you back up and finally the team has lost a ticket. 1 ticket doesnt sound like much, but when 32 other people are doing exactly what you just did....the tickets go down rather fast.

We have Milsim, causual, vBF2, ********, getting that last game in before I have to go to work, etc.

End of day its just a game. Like a buddie said to me about Milsim vs. Speedball airsoft. "I have no problems with them playing they way they want, I'm just not going to play with them."

So end of the day its easy, if your in a squad that doesnt want to play the way your want, leave or kick that person out...Simple as that. Hence all the locked squads you see. "PR can be taken too seriously" yeah and "PR can't be taken too seriously" :-P

This is one of those threads that are going no where.

Wicca, I love you. You really are a good SL, and I am always happy to be in your squad.

Ladies and gentlemen, wicca is a perfect SL.

It's a game and should be treated as such. If you aren't having fun, then why are you bothering? Some people have different definitions of fun. For us military nerds, its running around in a virtual world pretending to be soldiers leading a squad of competent and skilled warriors. Perhaps a bit too much to ask though.

First you download PR cuz its project reality, for some reality, then you argue that people take it too real... jesus guys.... why cant people be happy with what they got. I see better criticism if you were to say that we still have Nazis these days than this post... Cant change people.

i face 2 types of players i get mad at.

1. a player just wants a badass gun on his screen and that big is his sense for : teamwork

- i sometimes feel like i should visit them and throw their computer out of the window...
these are times when i wished i had the plastic neck thing where you strangle it, and a mechanical arm on the other players desk, strangles him in the same way.

2. a squaddie is not playing pr for a long time or just isnt good today.

-thats when i cry "idiot" in te mic and feel sry bout that later

my response in bold

and thats the same deal for me, when i play PR i want intense tactical game play. none of this run, and spray, i want to get as close to the battlefield as i can without actually dieing, i want realistic weaponry and proper stats for said weapons, THATS why i play PR, THATS why i hate games like CS where every gun is given a nuclear tip to their bullets, where every man takes 10 bullets to kill, I CHOSE to play PR because i didnt want to see some ZOMG LEET sniper head shoting people with out sighting in while jumping up and down, PR was clearly meant to be serious, it was clearly meant to be something that someone who has seen action can be proud of.

the whole reason i loved PR was because this was a game where most people actually took it seriously enough to act and communicate, and enact disciplins, like a real team.

another point though, i do agree with the people on the whole annoying to do formations thing, i've personally never ordered it, although this one time on basrah my whole squad fanned out into a perfect delta after we set a rally, lol it was totaly random when a SM pointed that out.

yes i also think some ppl take it way too seriousely.

i remember once i was in a sq and i happen to kill a enemy sl and was bleeding so i picked up his kit to use his fieldressings. not even a min pased that the sl was like "SPC grab another kit or be kicked from the sq" and im like "wtf dude im just using the kit to heal myself and if your going to ask me to take another kit... you dont have to threaten me"

some ppl are just pain in the @$$ to play with... :|
