Lol get a life? I have one....and it kicks ***.

Funny.... cuz getting a life....

..and playing a video game for 3 hours straight where you sit in a box staring at a map.....

Those two don't seem that compatible with each other....

Oh and while commanding I like to alt-tab out and pray that .85 is released......

Could a trigger be written in so that when you use a Sat. Scan, you are briefly able to use the lowest level of zoom (seeing what's actually on the battlefield). Like, for about 20 seconds, long enough to assess the situation and bring something new to the battlefield, but without the red dots from Vanilla. The cooldowns for fire support, as well as how they are deployed need to be worked on. Fire support is pretty meh at the moment. Once or twice I've seen it be gamebreaking, but those situations could have been won by the forces that worked with the fire support without it.

This would make commander much more enjoyable, at the moment, even while communicating with squads and doing everything you possibly can, there are long periods of free time where you're just doing nothing... Sitting on your hands...

Commander's satellite map was there to make it so that he can give orders without receiving information from other players, instead the information was given by the map.

And everyone knows how good players are at giving information to commander so that he could actually command...

On hardcore clan players = works sometimes.
On regular players = fail.

One thing ofc is language, 2nd is ofc that players are not soldiers.

Or shockingly bad internet.

:p

And people stop arguing, if everyone wanted CO, then PR would suck. We need the regular grunt just like we need the Commander.

commander has no function. no, really.
"no, you're supposed to plan the tactics for the squads"
i think the collective awareness of the people who have chosen to create the squads is enough to make them choose a wise tactic based on where the other squads are moving.
- they do not want a confirmation delay on whatever they drop.
- they don't like being given an order beyond the task that the squad was created for.

i've commanded 2 times and both were horrible. the squads don't listen (see above reason) and there's nothing to do except mark enemy positions. the other time someone lasered a jdam so it missed the spot. he stopped answering on voip.

but i only commanded cause i had my dinner infront the commander screen. i also play some guitar.

And for a bad team:

1. Apply for commander
2. Request an Officer kit
3. Walk to command post
4. Read the manual screen
5. Move your mouse to the resign button.
6. Click
7. Never repeat.
8. C4 the command post
9. Press alt + F4
10. Break BF2 disc into little pieces, then crush them and burn the remains.
11. Drive to local gun shop.
12. Buy pistol.
13. Point towards head in total despair at all humanity. :p

In all seriousness, I think the commander should get a second screen or a smaller one overlayed with a direct link to Black Hawk Down on DVD or youtube PR videos to keep him occupied. :)

Cobhris wrote:Most of the time, no one wants to command anyway. Most people consider it to be the most boring, tedious job in PR. You just sit in the compost, place a marker every now and then, answer build requests, and bark orders at squad leaders, which most will ignore. Most games I play (public servers), all the strategy and planning is done at the squad level with the commander just being some guy who sits in the base and tries to tell you what to do.
Yah admittably it does not work on servers who dont have regular players, but on servers like 10th or tactical gamer, like I said commander = epic win. Thats because at a squad level oftentimes the SL are NOT organized among each other and you end up with defense or attack too weak.

I belive that there are some good players who like to command (0,01%) but most time the commanderplace is empty or a new player wants to test the commander job. You can even be happy if the commander knows that he has to enter the cp. Next problem is giving buildorders -.- you are waiting 5min to get a fu** buildorder from your noob com whos bit** around on the carrier and plays with his at kit -.-

What i am doing while beeing commander? Watching TV :D

There is only one time to be a commander and that's when you want to drop a JDAM.

Browse PR forums, I'm commanding right now...

Not really, I wouldn't touch the commander chair with a 20 foot pole.

The blue mob fights the same with or without the commander, because people ignore commander orders 99% of the time. Most of the time, the team is commanded by the squad leaders, who talk to each other in team chat when two squads need to work together. I just think the commander needs more things to do and he needs to be more important, so that people actually need to be commander. I remember in .75 a team without a commander was at a HUGE disadvantage because there was no way to get outposts built and push the frontlines.

What to do in a CP?

Figuring out a way on how to win the map with one 6-man tank squad and eight 1-2 man squads.

Play in windowed mode whenever commanding, that way you can do other stuff.
