I don't agree with the other Steve, i really don't think the team needs to wait for 30mins because 1 person messed up, i also don't think that attack choppers need to be spawned after 20m minutes, i think 10 for attack, 10 for Chinook, and 5 for transport, there is no reason why the team has to wait a quarter of the game for 1 helicopter, its ridiculous

No it can't, the US Rangers have modified Land Rover 110s under the designation Ranger Special Operations Vehicle or RSOV
Source for this purpose because the humvee is too big.

well, currently on this version its 20min for tanks, 20m for attack choppers, 15-20 for transports.
griefers and idiots shouldnt be a reason to not put a good asset in, its far more worse if a idiot wastes the cobra. and seriuosly, 30 min for a huge transport whit fast transportation and the ability to set a FO up in matter of seconds is maybe even to fast.
i mean, chinooks lands, changes modes, getting build, people spawn on it on the next half hour, then the chinook is reported to a tank, someone gets the pilot kit and fly away, changes the position and in the next half hour people can still respawn.
a moving, location changing flying forward outpost. and you say 30 min are to long...

True, kashan would be much more fun if everything took 60 minutes to respawn.
Then you would have 60 minutes with your infantry kit to explore the map!
Supposing all of us want that and all of us have a complete day to play PR continuously.
The spawn times are already big enough for such vunerable things tbh, and in the end we are playing fun not wait.
You know what I see alot of now, and I have to admit I am guilty of sometimes?
Server hopping, people who die, and just find another server rather than waiting.
Anyway, I don“t think the Chinook should be a spawn point, if you remember the apc in 0.6.
I am sure it will have adequate advantages.

There is this thing called Google. I recommend using it.

I'll admit it's a tight fit and probably not that practicable, but it's possible and this just shows that the smaller (less wide) vehicles easily fit in the Chinook. And yes, IRL vehicles are transported inside the chinook, and just before landing they already start their engine so they can drive out of the chinook right away as soon as the ramp is down.

thats the MH-47E, that bird is a lot wider then the regular CH-47

Nope. FAIL again. It's a regular CH-47 with a couple modifications, like bigger fuel tanks. The inside area is not wider, what makes you think that?

It's pretty clear, the Chinook CAN carry a Humvee inside so other vehicles will fit in too, like all the jeeps in PR. And yes, as the Chinook lands, the jeep will already have it's engine running so it just drives off of the ramp as soon as it's down and on the ground.

From what I understand and what has been posted already, its not a matter of what can or cannot be carried IRL, its a matter of what can and cannot be carried in PR. This goes for underslung or within the rear cargo.
Theres the lame workaround of having it simply spawn a vehicle similar to how supply crates are dropped, but even that is not really what[some of]the team is wanting to see the Chinook used for. Time will tell, there's plenty of ideas floating around, many of which have yet to be tested.
Thank BF2

I beg to differ. US Army fit two HMMWVs per Chinook during Desert Storm to set up a FARP for the 101st on their Hail Mary.

Not the described event, but you get the idea.

Just wait till Bob posts again, your wrong in some way, you just won't know exactly how yet...
Oh and Robert, less of the tone, there's no need for that, surprised you haven't been warned for it,
especially for speaking like that to Bob of all people

iirc Robert1983nl is a CH-47 pilot IRL, so his statements can be taken as expert opinion I guess.
I guess it can be done, but would it work in context of the fast and furious Helo insertions of PR? I'm not sure, I imagine it takes quite a little while to extract those jeeps from the helicopter, and this cannot be reflected in PR afaik

Check out this video:
YouTube - Kansas Speedway Pace Car Delivered by Helicopter.
Obviously it'd go a lot faster when you're in a combat zone and people might shoot at you. But this just shows that even when you take it easy, it still only takes around 30 seconds.

it doesnt matter! its PR, and its a game, mean you can only have one option while IRL you have many. so , just let the devs decide.

^^You cant have vehicles inside vehicles in PR anyways, so we dont really have any options....

It can be coded so they spawn vehicles - as far as I'm aware at least

??: -, ala the transport drop in vanilla. Remember that crates were never meant to dropped out of helis on vanilla either

I know it'd be a bit of a silly way of doing it, but maybe it could be coded so vehicles drop with a really ridiculous, beyond the laws of physics, kind of parachute effect? So it took a good 20-30 seconds for the thing to actually drop to the ground or something along those lines. Perhaps add on top of that a massive damage factor if the things are dropped above a certain height as well, like they managed to do with parachuting. Would look dead stupid, but would overcome the problem of instant vehicles until some other way round it can be found.

Fair enough, there wasn't any need for the way he said any of that though.

I has question, and please feel free to tell me I'm dumb if its a dumb idea or has been suggested, because I'm not sure.
If I shoot at a bomb on a jet ingame, does the jet take damage? How is this accomplished?
if the answer is yes, and its accomplished by giving hitboxes like any other object on vehicle how about this...
The chinook spawns just as the chinook, it spawns in a position away from anything that can reload it. This means that the pilot can get in, and fly over to the reload point.
Ok...I bet you can see where I'm going with this
Pilot hover's over the reload point and the deployable (like a crate) vehicle is 'reloaded' like a jet with bombs, and the 'bomb' is added to the underside of the chinook. - this would be even better if the helo understood that it now has a heavy 'bomb' and responded differently inflight.
Feel free to shoot me down here though
