Why does everyone think that Russia/Europe offers any interesting terrain. I personally don't find some snow and ice along with some grasslands in the springe/summer time is all that interesting. Actually, China is still a communist country, they hold the world's largest population and probably features mostly every single environment on Earth. Everything from snow to deserts, jungles to grasslands etc.

Why is it you dont like Israel so much?Pence wrote:PR cant do the Israeli army, its already being done: http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~idf/idfmod/
So if they do -- do it then we can have Russia too.
IDF in PR will be great addition, its a whole new army and a whole new experience.
Plus, what the hell is the IDF-FFI mod link has to do with adding Israel to PR?
If its being made in a different mod so it cant be used in this one? (although the IDF-FFI mod based on a totaly different concept of Israeli Past wars and not current or future like BF2's time line)

MEC = unrealistic
I'm all for a fundamental change to them, we still have the Chinese.
Arab maps could be more infantry centric with cramped urban enviroments that put less focus on heavy armor and air support. Perhaps to the point of removing Tanks/APC's/Heli's. Chinese maps could offest this by pushing the focus on equipment. Wouldn't that be more realistic?

Russia's got some pretty cool open areas. Haven't you played Red Orchestra?Terranova wrote:Why does everyone think that Russia/Europe offers any interesting terrain. The British Would NOT sell the Challenger 2 it is one of the best tanks in the world so I can't see the british selling it .lonelyjew wrote: For example, in Oman, the U.S. could be give 2 abrams and the MEC would get 4 T-72's, or maybe 2 T-72's as well as one challenger 2 that Oman bought from england.
The Challenger 1 was originally been developed for the Iranians as well as the british but when Iran did something, can't quite remember what, so the british stopped it. But then it was completely replaced by the challenger 2

There would be a greater chance of Russia turning back to Communism and becoming a Super Power again then the "MEC" existing. I'd rather see us fighting China (pretty realistic), N.Korea, maybe Iran...and if we need another "bad guy" bring in Russia and make it out as if Russia turned back to Communism.Terranova wrote:I think this is what its going to come down to.
Do we really want to bring in current real-life international policies, politics and relations to a storyline. Or do we stick to a fictional and out of the ordinary storyline. If we bring the most controversial faction; the MEC down, do we replace them? If so then with who?
As it is, PR might not attract many players if just ends up being a U.S/U.K modification going against some third world arabic nation. Not to mention its not even close to being original. It doesn't even make for interesting gameplay, since most of these nations carry the same old AK-47s, RPGs, T-72s (and lower) tanks and some guys with beards who can't shoot for shit. Where as the MEC is something of a refreshment of modern warfare held in the middle-east. Sure, its purely fictional, but it makes for an interesting side that could virtually make use of a large variety of equipment rather than some Cold War Soviet Union weapons.
I guess the bottom line question is, fact or fiction?

If the MEC can become a force then Russia could twice as easy.Arikara wrote:There would be a greater chance of Russia turning back to Communism and becoming a Super Power again then the "MEC" existing. Russia opens a wider array of different terrain and Russia itself holds a large land mass.
To give this mod more life also (and to keep the hard-work of the devs ingame for BF2142) i think Russia would be a good enemy.

Doubt it. People are still stuck in the Cold War here. Whats with hate on Russia anyhow? Russia turning back to communism would be a radical move. Most of their newly found power came from their republic states during the time of the Soviet Union. These states now soverign nations include Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georiga, Armenia, etc. As it is, Russia has loose ties with the former soviet republics based in an organization now known as the CIS (Commonwealth of Indepentdent States). Communism ain't going to help bring the country back onto its feet. Unless you want Russia to become the next Germany of WW2, adopting a ruthless dictator as their leader.
Personally though I think Russia can benefit from capitalism. If they can create a better society (Imagine what the ghetto of Russia looks like compared to the ghetto of the United States) with education and what not. They might see economic boosts with entrepreneurs on the rise. I think if they place some trust in western nations they're better off.

Communisum is an economic eating machine, most (including me) would just sit and let everyone else work.
For the point i am trying to make is that Russia COULD (unlikely but it could) bring back its old ways and become a anti-western superpower again.
If there is a MEC, witch is just a load of jehad hogging load of idiot arabs, why cant other countrys join together like they did for exsample; Middle/North Africa or North Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thialand, Laos and Burma join there nabour as an allie and try to take over the hole of asia or somethink.

Well lets build on that, What is the next biggest state that is either anti-western or has a reason/brewing reason to go to war with the US/UK?Arikara wrote:Well BF2 is basically WWIII. Strongest nations in the world fighting each other.

China - Taiwan, Economy, Oil, etc.
N.Korea - Extreme hate for S.Korea and US.
Pakistan - Islamic, Ally to China.
Iran/Syria - Islamic, Extreme hate for Western World and Israel.
Cuba - Communist, Hates the US (but unlikely since their military isn't anything great).
That is really all I can think of at the moment who could be a threat to the Western world. You could add Russia in but that would rely on them falling back to Communism (Putin and the Russian mob wan't Communism back) but that at the moment is a shot in the dark but more plausible then a Middle Eastern Coalition. All it would take is someone similar to Stalin to take control of Russia and you would have a modern day WWII era Germany.

How do you know the MEC are just your common arab terrorist types?
I always thought that the more wealthier, more intelligent governemts formed a coalition against western expansion or something. Perhaps in some sense the U.S and U.K are the aggressors in the middle-east, and continue to invade countries they deem hostile already previously seen with Iraq. So over a period of 5 to 10 years, these nations decide to form an alliance, combining economies, armies and procuring new military equipment. Western nations delay to act against the MEC because of a current war with China, triggered by the Taiwan invasion in late 2006 or early 2007. Which may last up until 2010 to 2015. Also as I sated earlier (don't know if it was this thread) technically North Africa is part of the middle-east.
That would be my summary on the MEC. I find it IMO a bit more plausible than the return of the Soviet Union conspiracy.

I know North Africa Islamic and Some more eastern countrys like Somalia are too, If we get that into the games overall look then we could have the terrain types that we all want.Terranova wrote:How do you know the MEC are just your common arab terrorist types?
