Good job to those that explain why. With out a why its hard to learn how to fix it. Even have to give props to Waaah_Wah for a constructive response.

With the thread title the way it is there should be no "Your Wrong" anywhere. This is a opinion post about YOUR 3 likes and dislikes.

Here are my 3's
Like: (I'll keep Korengal out :-) )
  • Muttrah City V2
    - very good well crafted map. Based on real sat images is a plus. Make it feel real.
  • Basra
    - Older map and in need of a update but I still have some good times on the map. Broke the PR mold of insurgency.
  • Barracuda
    - I like the beach invasion part. Feel like it under played. Need to be very tactical to win. Great lighting.
Dislikes (These are left to the Dev's only :-P Sorry)

As a player, I love all maps

top 3

Muttrah - enterables, plain and simple
Mestia - British, forest is well designed, BIG cap zones are fun
Fools - Asymmetric, coalition side doesn't get the best of everything, which is interesting

But as an admin on a server...

Bottom 3 (due to depopulating effects)

Al Kufrah (my favourite armour map...)
Tad Sae (which I really like playing...)
Quinling (Which I also love playing...)

Can't live without...

Korrengal - it doesn't lag for me but has a ton of scenery and lots of maneuver down infantry trails. It seems those that don't like it are always the ones that want to drive the apc. ;-)

Fool's Road - best asymmetrical balance map in the game. This map can go either way with only the loss of one squad and can be a lot of fun with all the varied terrain.

Muttrah V2 - I almost don't want to put this one in because lately my server of choice plays this a lot. It pulls in folks which is why I like it though and is very well laid out.

Toss em!....

Sunset City - I have never seen this one requested and seen it drop too many players to be worth keeping. The city fighting is nice but muttrah offers it in a much better scenario.

Mestia - Since the changes from last version this one empties the server fast. The flag radius being so large frustrates me and those I play with and the limited amount of flags also make it stalemate into boring rather quickly. I loved the old version, but the new version is a tosser.

Al Kufra Oilfield - To me this feels like a vanilla map now when compared to the updated maps. It actually feels a lot like Da Qing in vanilla tbh. The open terrain plus the armor spawns means whoever wins the first armor engagement is probably the one that is going to be trapping the other team in their main.

My own suggestion, ones that need a facelift but not toss.

Tad Sae - reorganizing the flag cap order and ticket count could make this one a keep for some fun infantry combat, though I feel it is currently too small and the flag order odd.

Qin Ling - This one stalemates too easily for me and I would like new flag objectives added and more of the map used. Could also use less trees for the more lag sensitive folks out there.

Ramiel
- another lag producer, which I through talking to those I play with may be due to the flaming barricades and smoke. Take those out and it is quite possible this could outdo muttrah as far as current popularity.

EJOD - I've always felt this map was a good mix, but needed more objectives that were not in the main city. If this map were expanded east and west a bit it could be the Kashan of the medium vehicles maps.

Those are mine and why, hopefully the devs review these and can make it so hard to choose great maps that all of them are listed as good.

I need me some...
Ramiel- no lag here for me and I like everything about this map, the ambient sounds are awesome and ambushing US patrols as insurgent or searching for caches as USMC never really gets old for me.
Korengal- Much for the same reasons as above, awesome level design on this map and if you think insurgents are ineffective against a real army, try this one a few times and watch the US get wailed on.
OGT- wish this one got played more, when I first started PR awhile back seemed like this was a more popular map.

I can do without...
I would say keep all the other maps, with proper teamwork they're all fun as hell the only problem I ever have is when the servers empty out because everyone dislikes a certain map

Can't

Ramiel (Best insurgency map IMO and probably the most realistic map along with Muttrah. Most balanced insurgency map along with Korengal)

Muttrah v2 (Nuff said)

Korangal (Both sides have a fair chance of winning and it gives us new and different terrain for once.

Can

Kufrah (Why is this map still even in PR? Its terrible and anyone on foot is screwed)

Quinling (No vehicle or you are on foot, you are screwed. At least Kashan has the North and South Bunker)

Ghost Train(Its outdated now and too small. The bridge in the center doesn't help anything either and screws any flanking since everyone knows where the enemy will come from on the shores.)

AWESOME PIECE OF ART, ALSO KNOWN TO MAN AS A PR MAP:
Ejod skirmish, on LT server and sometimes on the NPK server there are 10v10 inf battles which often turn my heart rate up, in other words, an intense game on a infantry level(INFLOVER deluxe). with the apcs its ok, but the long walk from main after some 1337specpoos crashed or got annihilated in a stryker or bmp is not cool.
suggestion to improve map: make gas and north desert main, but with to eternally lasting spawnpoints, one at the current main and one at the flag. i think this will get the inf-feel more into the AAS64 version of this wonderful map. thank you.

now for the map which is in my (not so)humble opinion is the lamest of them all.
KASHAN AAS64.
the first and only reason is N00BS. just too many. i cannot continue a game for more than a quarter of an hour without seeing a lolcopter or a sniperkit in my tank or helo sqd.

i BEG you to MOD the PLAYERS.

All time favourites for me.

1. Sounds cheesy but I too like qwai river..completely tired of it but always interesting. glad to see it has kept evolving.
2. Basrah - One of the defining PR maps. really set a standard of gameplay that blew everyone away.. spent more hours playing it than any other
3. Jabal - my favourite all time map to play organized. just had some really epic games.

All time least favs
1. Jungle fever - puke, gag, heave, vomit, purge...
2. the stormy dusty map

You mean there aren't enough discussions already about the maps? I thought this was just a "I like this map, don't like that map" thread.

You're encouraging discussion of maps here, when there are already hundreds of threads about them :39_poscom :? ??:

trust me, as an amatuer mapper i know that the dev mappers only thing they want to hear is what people think of other maps. this kind of feedback is very good.

Anyway, my fav maps

1. Ramiel - Finally, a huge urban map. Not only is this map gritty, it finally settles any guys black hawk down wet dreams. I've been in some pretty epic situations in this map on both side, while fulfilling multiple roles. Lastly, the map offers (to me) a new expirience every time, the city is well constructed so that from every angle you look at one place, it will look different. Basically, a lot of replayability.

2. Qwai River - Possibly the best PR map of all time. This map has gone trough minimal changes, and yet continues to keep up with every single release. A very good map for squad leading, and very good map for teamwork overall. Also setting is very good, an asian farm river valley.

3. Kashan - This map revolutionized PR like no other map. Provided a HUGE view distance and a very realistic feel. A lot of destructables, and an all out war loadout. Whether it is 16, 32, 64, every single version is different. Finally, kashan 16 really changed my PR expirience. Huge map with basically only infantry, very refreshing from all the noise.

Least Fav

1. Quinling - Sadly, kashan with trees did not work in this situation. Its hard to put your finger on it but I really think its because it feels the cp's are so close together. The lake creates this illusion IMO. Basically, the top left part of the map is not utilized (and i mention that part is really cool). I just hope a major overhaul is done with this map, the setting has a lot of potential.

2. Bi ming - Don't get me wrong, this map was THE SHIT when it was night. Tho a small map, the night setting spaced everything out and created such a sweet scenario. Sadly, it is day now, and the map feel extremley too small for PR. Problem here is the woods. The size on small maps such as OGT feel larger because of the vegitation. Deep deep jungle foliage makes ogt feel huge. I would just suggest this for bi ming, just re make the map to a jungle feel, since we all really really really miss mao valley.

3. Op Archer - Great map, possibly is the second best scenario for an insurgency map. But here is where the insurgent's unbalanced gameplay shines. Really, most of the problems lay with in the faction, but map wise the map has too little spawns, and is a very hard map to mobilize in for insurgents.

All the maps i hated are gone really, thats why i choose op archer as the last one. I actually like the map lol.

Top:
Al Basrah (most played map for me, overall best for Gameplay)
Muttrah v2 (As a mapper, I crapped my pants when I saw this map)
Seven Gates (awesome fort map)
Ramiel (awesome city map)
Barracuda (awesome beach map)
Qwai (overall amazing map, 2nd most played)
Mestia (small enough not to be a huge-forest-walk-everywhere-map, lots of uniqueness to the map)

Bottom:They all seem to have the same problems for me, I always end up walking through nothing on these maps, and there isn't enough stuff. All the gotta do to fix is add much more stuff and vehicles.
Tad Sae (Forest map with little character [too much nothingness])
Op Archer Akward, it doesn't really seem like a Project Reality map
Jabal (Big mountain map with little character [too much nothingness])
Ghost Train (Forest map with little character [too much nothingness])
Fool's Road (Forest map with little character [too much nothingness])
Bi Ming (Forest map with little character [too much nothingness])
Quinling (Plain map with little character [too much nothingness])

1. Qwai - Burn it out night after night on our server. Yet I Still log onto an empty server to find little hiding spots and nuances. Love the tense duel of the Tows vs Tanks when the round starts.

2. Jabal - Granted the actual damn is ugly as hell and makes no sense. Fighting for the chokepoints of damn and bridge are cool. Wish MEC had a bleed flag however to even the fairness out a bit.

3. Muttrah - wow what an awesome looking map for one Rhino, bravo! Fighting street to street with apcs rolling around is freaking rad. Wish there was some small cover around the piers, a few expanses if you get caught around there you are totally exposed with nowhere to hide. And of course those US LAV's starve with no reload. But I think this map is gonna be an ace with a few more tweaks.

+/- Kashan Desert - My love/hate affair with this one. It's awesome to see the full hardware loadout with all the machines driving flying etc. Can be some epic rounds. On the other hand, it is *WAY too long*. Shave off 100-150 tickets. The map is really plain and ugly also. What is with that brown sky? There are areas that look like something from another planet. I would love to see a night Kashan or morning. Tough map to admin also, lot of chaos in the mains sometimes.

-

1. Road to KyongYan'Ni - Never liked the flag layout before. Now new version is even more silly fighting for that pointless center village. I got a great tactic find points overlooking the town. Let other team take it then shoot em from a distance. Or put a fast bleed there so there is some reason to actually waste tickets going in.

2. Korengal Valley - I think CodeRedFox did a hell of a job designing this one. It looks fantastic. Insurgency in general just needs more work. Its so hard to get around as durka team. Since you can't make rallies you get seperated from your squad easy. Break your leg climbing even easier. Spawning in the caves can get frustrating. Hard to heal yourself. Harder to convince pubbers to actually stay put and ambush. We ran this one for awhile on our server, by natural migration whenever it came up everyone struggled to be on the US side. I am looking forward to this map's future.

3. Tad Sae - This is probably the only PR map I openly don't like. Way too dense, with rallies getting overrun to often (usually by accident, other squad just happened to bungle near). Hard to coordinate inf squads in the bush with few landmarks. Only vehicles are Trucks+boats. map is very bleh. Desperately needs some "jeep" sized vehicles on a short spawn at the mains.

My 2 all time favourites in no particular order:
(The jury is still out on the new ones)

Al Basrah - That was the only map I played when it came out:

Taking down the A-10 with a t62
Hunting the Cobra with an sa7 or hiding behind the building and trying to find the (sa7) guy based on the lock/ no lock
Taking justice to the airport with a C4 strapped to a dirt bike
Getting 5 guys into a Black hawk and seeing 25 rpg's fly near you
Right now the insurgents need some fixing (imo) the AK47 in particular.

Kashan Desert

Still the best viewing distance in PR,miss the "hidden" m82,the zpu4 in front of the bunkers and I would mix the 32/64 and have planes and choppers on one map.
I know most people think of this as a "tank map" but the 32 version (given
you have good pilots) make tanks a non factor, so that's why I'd like planes
and choppers mixed.

**********************************************************************
The new ones:
(Still need a lot more time to play these.)

Ramiel
I love the size, the feel and the balance (even thou the Ins. could use a lot of tweaking but that's not up to the mapper)

Mutrah
Without a doubt one of the (if not the) most beautiful and the most detailed maps of all time in PR.
I personally think that a few things should be adjusted, but that's another topic.

Korengal
This one is a map in it's own class, the most "original" PR map imo of all time.
Again Insurgent need to "get fixed" also why no suicide cars ?

I have found that PR players can generally be divided into 2 groups:
(no offence please :p )

1.The desert people.
2.The jungle /forest people.

I am definitely in the 1st one.
I don't like jungle or too many trees or too much grass.
Maps that I play the least are:
OGT, R. to K.
