I take it so seriously because it's the only thing in life I'm even remotely good at, and putting you down makes me feel better about that.

:p

Scandicci wrote:AMEN to Spacemanc and I double his agreement with Scot. Being serious and being an A**hole are two different things. Anyone who has worked on projects for extremely successful, extremely powerful people know that these people get where they are because of their ability to communicate effectively and to effectively manage people. On a number of occasions I have worked on projects with big-wig Vice Presidents and top level managers. These people were never too busy or too important to answer my questions or respond to my emails in a polite, efficient manner. Of course they demanded a lot but they had patience and were willing to work with me to solve problems. No one is ever too hardcore, or too important to be polite. Hardcore is great. Being rude is not.
This is what I am trying to get at. You can play serious, have fun, and be a nice guy. Or you can treat it as it it was life or death and make the rest of your team feel unwelcome. This is what I'm trying to say:

Right
-Playing as a squad, sticking together, pulling off attacks, defending etc

-Heavy use of VOIP

-Squad leader ordering squads

-Commander ordering squad leaders

-Using the geography code A1kp1, compass numbers, ie, 50, etc

-Dropping supplies, people off

-Each squad has their own purpose (infantry, tanks, helicopters, etc)

-Whole team working together to achieve the same goal

Bad
-Getting kicked out of a squad because you couldn't revive the squad leader (I was pinned down by gunfire from 3 insurgents on a roof)

-Going insane because the driver accidentally drove over an unmarked landmine (Someone in my squad was driving, with leader ontop and rest of squad as passenger)

-Reporting someone because they accidentally lost the grappling hook (Me, 3 others and squad leader were on a roof. We got up via hook, but when trying to get back down the guy accidentally dropped the hook down.)

-Accidentally driving a supply truck into the river and getting kicked out of server. (I was told by my squad leader to bring the truck to the firebase, my truck fell off the wooden bridge things)

Guys I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say. A squad leader that commands, great, working as a team, great, but insulting, kicking, reporting, whatever for just accidental mistakes is way over the top.

The bottom line is that it should be fun - some people take their "power" way to seriously, and I suspect they are compensating for something in their real life.
truth.......haha

The issue would be that everyone needs to be uber disciplined in order to achieve something, else you get completely pwnt, hence the seriousness. But getting kicked off servers for driving trucks off road is something completely stupid.

More so than .8? Did you play in .8? Just curious as it was far more extreme ;)

To play like it's real you get the best performance out of yourself. I like to give my best, test my skill, learn and evolve. Although my army days are behind me, there is something that I miss about them.

Admin is like the supreme commander that gets rid off soldier that aren't following orders or don't have the skill level required to advanced tasks, like flying helos. But accidents do happen, but they shouldn't happen twice to the same guy in one round.

I know one thing for sure...when i play in a squad/team with people who take it seriously (with a realistic approach...not in a l33t approach) it is more fun. When i play with people who dont take it seriously (dont use voip or follow orders etc) its not fun. Simple really. Its been said before, but winning is pretty important in a war-sim game...no one want to lose at war! lol. plus im a sucker for organisation, so deffo vote for the serious gamers in PR :)

Yea getting kicked from a server for an accident like that is obviously way OTT...unless you had the same accident 5 times in a row or somethin...thats alot of points! lol :P
