4:Features & GameModes
Overview

Project Reality (PR) is a modification for Battlefield 2 on the PC. Project Reality's aim is to create a more realistic combat environment than standard Battlefield 2, and place a greater emphasis on teamwork and cooperation.

Most aspects of Battlefield 2 that have the capacity to be modified (such as physical properties of weapons and vehicles) have been tweaked to reflect their real life counterparts. The properties of all vehicles and weapons have been modified for increased realism. Ballistics were adjusted to reflect those of real weapons, including characteristics such as deviation and bullet drop. Damage caused by weapons is much more realistic.

[b4]Gameplay[/b]

Innovative Spawn System – Project Reality has a new way to handle player respawns. There is no more spawning on flags or appearing around squad leaders like in regular Battlefield 2. Instead, the players now have the control of where they want their reinforcements to come in via deployable rally points and player built forward outposts.

Non-cluttered HUD - the Heads-Up Display has been heavily tweaked, keeping with a minimalist theme that only shows you what you need to see, and allowing the mod’s powerful updated graphics to be the most prominent feature instead of non-essential 2D information. No more
enemy name tags, hit & kill indication, health bar, ammo bar, crosshair, infantry mini-map or automatic infantry spotting. The Project Reality HUD allows you to focus on what matters.

Revamp of soldier equipment - Soldier classes now carry realistic equipment and useful tools such as: Bayonets, E-Tools, long lasting Smoke Grenades, Binoculars, Field Dressing, Incendiary Grenades. Gone are the unrealistic sidearms for all classes, the parachutes for all but pilots.

New main menu - Completely redone main menu for sleeker look and easier navigation as well as new features. Online and offline training mode is available as well as map overview previews before you join a server.

Close Air Support – Players can now take advantage of real modern equipment to coordinate close air support. Jets and attack helicopters across the board are now using the new laser designation system, allowing infantry units to designate targets for attack. In addition, squad leaders and Special Forces operators can call in air support via the commander in the form of a 2,000lb JDAM bomb.

Updated Map Screen Features - The map screen that players have access to has been tweaked drastically from BF2. The ability to "auto-spot" and track enemy units has been removed. In its place is a Contact Report system where squad leaders can call up the chain of command to the commanding officer, and have enemy units marked, deleted, and moved around at the whim of the commander. Player directional arrows have been removed and all vehicle icons have been updated to reflect the various new vehicle classes showcased in Project Reality. In addition to sending contact reports, squad leaders can more effectively communicate by placing markers for APC Transport Requests, Helicopter Transport Requests, Troop Reinforcements Requests, Resupply Requests, Build Order Requests.

Updated Commander Features - Commanders now play a vital role in Project Reality as the communications hub and central command organization of the team. Commanders are expected to give squads orders and oversee the entire battle strategy of the team. They are required to command the battle using the Command Post with the new Map Marker system. Commanders can place GPS laser markers for laser guided bombs, call in JDAM strikes, various forms of Artillery, and mark waypoints and minefields.

New Deployable Asset System - Never before seen in a realistic First Person Shooter, Project Reality has a unique building system. Squads can now deploy vital equipment and weapons on the battlefield to defend and control key areas. With the proper supplies; squads can assemble sandbag walls, create machine-gun nests, string razor-wire, build bunkers or firebases, and more. This allows the players to have control of how assets are placed, and control areas of strategic importance.

Unique Kit Request System - Unique to Project Reality, special powerful kits with specialized roles have now been limited and made available to squads that request them. By realistically rationing unique and powerful equipment, squads will now have more realistic loudouts, and have to use it effectively. These kits include: Officers, Snipers, Anti-Tank Specialists, Anti-Air Specialists, Designated Marksmen, Grenadiers, Combat Engineers, Automatic Riflemen, Riflemen Anti-Tank, Crewmen, Pilots.

Improved Logistics/Ammo System

Theres alot of stuff missing here, but gives a general idea... I dont think youll be able to put a summary of this stuff on the back of the box, maybe should look for a more general approach, or more pictures. Pictures speak 1000 words as they say.

So far great job looks very professional!

You should read up on humour.
Its actually quite facinating, once you get over the initial speed bump. ;)

On a sidenote, It's actually not a PEGI/ESRB/BLAH rating, but rather a STFU one, and they seem to operate quite independently from the mainstream public opinion. They seem to have read the wiki article i linked to. :) Cheers mate.

The cover is finished. I just printed it, and it is as crisp and clear as an original.
Naturally, this level of quality comes with a price, and that price is filesize.
The cover, in .png format, weighs in at 9,52MB.

Do you know a imagehosting site that accepts this filesize, or do you have a server that could host the file?

If you bother filling out the proper specs and send it back, I'll put it on there.

Slogan "The combat just got realistic..."

Would of thought maybe "Real Combat - Game Over" or something to that effect would of had a touch more Zing to it.

Speaking of Sex... anyone noticed the sexual content warning on the back?

Well maybe we should make a version that is a bit more serious :)

I agree that it sounds a bit like male2male fornication, but my main goal here was consistency with the rest of the Battlefield 2 series.

"Total war on the modern battlefield" -Battlefield 2
"Modern warfare, when diplomacy fails" - Special Forces
"New Troops, New Weapons, New Fight!" - Euroforce
"All-Out War on Americal soil" - Armored Fury

Do you not agree that "The combat just became realistic" fits in this circus of slogans?
BloodyDeed wrote:But how I have to print it out so that it fits correctly in my DVD Box?
Try CoverXP. Its Freeware, and it works verry well.
[coverXP] : print your covers in seconds... in style!

If this is a serious opinion, I don't mind making anotherone, completely joke-free.
You might want to look at the pegi rating on the front allso.

Other than this, I would like to say thank you all for the kind critics.
I spent allmost a week on this, so I'm glad you ppl enjoy it!

Btw, the shouts are at the botton of the small text on the back...

damn... i lost all my pre-0.6-Cover PSD-Files :-\

btw. great covers but u really should make it a bit more serious

i really love the background but there's one thing which looks ugly to me: The BSS logo
Maybe you should use some more decent effects on this one. ;-)

I'm a bit surprized about the seriousness comments. It is, in fact, just two small pegi ratings that are a bit, exentric..
Nevertheless, I can make a non-funny version tomorrow.
About the BSS logo, i totally agree, but i decided early on that i wanted to use it, and trust me.. It took a lot of trial and error to make it work as not-so-bad as it does now.
So I agree, It sucks, but I worked for so long on it that I can't take it off now.
