In all seriousness,

What are the chances of EA giving the Devs the source code? Fastropes wouldn't be a problem if they had that, right?

If you look at the recent activity, PR is/has:

-Easily most popular BF2 mod
-Won ModDB MOTY award
-Recieved a lot of publicity from EA lately

So I really have nothing even remotely concrete to base this hypothesis on, but I could see EA possibly giving the devs BF2's SOURCE CODE, or at least a more flexible code. I'm sure there would be obvious restrictions as far as distribution and development, but is it really that far-fetched? I'm honestly asking that question because I really don't know

I don't think EA uses this engine anymore (frostbite now?), so I could see them allowing the devs to play with it under some contractual ground rules, of course.

Or how about this,
EA could pay the dev team to develop a project reality from the source code that could be sold as an expansion pack? If I sound naive about the PC gaming business, it's because I am.

I just want to see the devs get a hold of the source code to see what they can really do. Right now they're doing an awesome job, but if they had the source code I'm pretty sure they could make the game immensly more amazing.

Sorry to go off-topic, but this actually relates to the possbility of fastropes...I guess.

It's not a joke, the devs just keep saying its a joke to fool you guys.

EA could lose some money if they ever gave out there source code, and money is 100x more important than us so maybe in about 10 years when the code is useless they will let them use it.

I still don't get how the source code for a game that goes for 5-10 units of pretty much any world currency can hold any value... Anyway we'll see what they've come up for $£"%$£^%& when they announce what's going on with that.

If they gave out the source code they might as well give out the game for free.

Not only because of the fact people are considering it to be true/not 1,000% sure it is a joke, but because many of these people have been on the forums long enough to know that fastropes = impossible = always a joke.

Oh god, I should have locked this instead of moved it!

Locked.
