No, but it would be comparable to having modeled the Apache and not using it. A terrible and useless waste.

Well I know that it will be a waste if they decide to not use it. But that's true that I started this model without knowing if they gonna need it. So there will be a big argument that this model will not be in PR. In the end it is a Apache and a Black Hawk in 1. So there will be a big advantage if they get it. Even though it will be more realistic that they get it because that's what they have in RL.
And a little update. I have now build the nose 5 times and still I cant make it look good and the surrounding structure on the gun I have tried 20 times or more. Need more detailed pictures of the nose of MI-24D <-- jup thats the one Im modeling now. Cant find good pictures of MI-24wm. Cant find good pictures on the nose. So a little help
I hope you code in this model with some transportation capability, and preferably the firing ports on the side out of the passenger compartment windows.
Look forward to seeing this as an asymmetric gunship, weaker in many respects than a more agile modern gunship but with the tactical advantage of the fighting men it carries in the back.

Personally I think the Hind would fit in perfectly with an asymmetrical combat layout, for example, being used as transport and attack roles in a map where they would be difficult to shoot down, but would have a hard time taking out targets also. I think it would be perfect on some Chechen maps where landing in hot zones means landing with some big guns.
Obviously they couldn't be used in conventional vs. conventional army maps because of the danger of enemy heavy vehicles, but put them into a map where they fit in would mean it could be used as a multi-role asset.

Looking good, the hind is by far my favourite helicopter so I would love to see it in PR someday.
I just hope you are not going to do the Mi-24P with the fixed gun, I love to gun in PR and I would like it a lot more if it had the flexible 12.7 (can't remember the name of it).
But anyway its looking good just keep working and maybe one day we will see it ingame.
Here is a video of it being used in Sierra Leon, I don't think the door guns are standard tbh.

Great job on the model, keep it up!
For anyone who knows; didn't the Russian Air Force have plans of replacing all their Hinds? What is the reason for this? Sure, it's quite an old design, but havn't they proved to be quite useful in the recent wars in the Caucasus?

Was reading somewhere that one came down earlier this year, part of the tail section broke off. After the crash all the Hind's were inspected and were found that the majority had corrosion in the tail section, only about 30% are actually allowed to fly, the rest are grounded. That may be why the RAF(hey look at that, same as the RAF:razz have plans to replace their hinds.
Would seem a sensible reason

there was temporary ban of Mi-24 flights, but i cant find any official info about causes of the crash. Tail sector you talking about was a cause of ban for MiG-29 flights, after crash in december 2008
Hinds will be slowly replaced by Havocs, because they are getting old and its production stopped, only repairs and modernizations of relatively new ones
