Good luck with the new server dude ;) but I promise you it's going to be a LOT more difficult than you realise

Problem with a "whitelist" as you say is PR players don't stick around forever, and the regulars/floaters by their very nature like to explore through many different PR servers

Also the very thing that keeps a server going, is the nub.. the nub may be annoying, he may catastrophically crash every vehicle in game in every conceivable way in a matter of minutes, and he may constantly broadcast over TS and mumble (hardly whitelist material) however the nub grows and blossoms into a great PR player and keeps the server going in the future.

Very Interested

Set it up in Texas, I've had international players have excellent pings from Texas. This was even better for my clan who are spread out across America, especially on the Seaboards.

I hear what you're saying and Id hate the white list idea become widespread, but I think there's a enough like minded players out there to keep 2 servers going (US/EU), and make new players with the right attitude, want to become members.

Theres players who would be suitable to join after one or two days playing PR - theres others who have been playing PR for years, that I wouldn't particularly want to join.

Its the right type of people I'm hoping to attract, rather than a certain skill level, so the use of the words "elite" "pro" and "hardcore" aren't really appropriate.

I often play on Texas Team Players servers, and I always get good ping :D Server location will be based on where's best for most people.

Not to burst your bubble, but Australian PR just simply wouldn't be able to get a white list of that many players. bigD has all it needs to remain functional, but I personally don't think this concept would ever work in Australia. When bigD locked their servers to prevent CTD hacks, we experienced a total lack of dedicated players. They would rather populate the next unlocked server than support the community.

The bigD Campaign will begin soon, and teams will be very closely monitored as well as players allowed to participate. To tell you the truth, this is the closest you will get to a 'white list' in Australia for a very long time.

Want the thread titled changed to PR Elitism Server? I think it'd be more appropriate.

Love the idea of consistent, quality teamwork. Hate the idea of thinking that only players from the forums - and even then, only certain special members - are suitable for any given server.

It reeks of elitism, snobbery and condescension. And that's coming from a self-professed snob.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, a hundred times over: If people put the same effort into working with the 'new guys' - not just in-game but also in the forums - and making them feel welcome, relaxed and able to have any gameplay issues resolved - as they put into bitching, whining and discriminating against them, we'd have virtually every server filled with excellent teamplayers.

This thread virtually single-handedly proves the point of every single newcomer to this community who states it is elitist and bigotted. It reinforces the belief outside of the PR community that PR is played by people who take both the game and themselves too seriously. It pretty much provides every griefer and hacker out there with a new raison d'etre - to bring down the mighty Whitelist server - allowing them to claim they're simply promoting the cause of equality, when in fact it's just provided them with a list of people who represent everything they claim to hate about PR. This server, if it goes ahead, will be target primo for every moron with a grudge and a script.

Sorry, I'm just calling it as I see it. I wish you all the best in your endeavour if you go ahead, but I hope you'll reconside in the wider interests of the community.

Masaq, I thought the idea was to pick out people with proper attitude, not to promote elitism. I don't think you can call it 'taking the game too seriously', it's always been about fun and enhancing your experience... also, I see no reason why a new guy couldn't join the server - he could simply learn the basics in some other place and then, when he feels he's prepared to take his experience to higher level, apply for the server.

Or am I wrong?

I haven't played PR for a very long time.
The last time I did it was a major letdown.

I felt like a sane guy locked up in a mental institute.
I haven't touched PR since then.

If this server could change this I'd be very happy. I'm sick of playing Russian roulette on whether the game will be great or a complete ****.

Interested, Europe.

Oh and about the whitelist thing - I'm sure there would be no crazy sign up system. As the OP said: skill doesn't matter.
As long as you're not a complete tard you're free to join in. Even as a new guy.

I'll be more than happy to personally answer any questions such guy might have.

Agreed.
A well administrated server or password nights already provide an enjoyable PR experience.

I must say that I'm also not interested as the three posters before said. What we could use is a PR Noob Server where some experienced guys would guide the new guys around and teach them the basics. Give me anytime squad of one or two trusted guys as NCOs and then rest completely new guys who have mics and proper attitude and wonders will happen. Now imagine server full of those. That would ultimately lead to PR player base being drastically improved. But now it's getting off-topic and I'd maybe better start another thread about this.

/Not interested (but if you make, do it Europe ;) )

This.

Its not about new players or being elitist in my opinion, its about having fun with a bunch of people with some common sense.

Elitists are as bad as smacktards I find but I won´t play PR on a public server anymore unless a bunch of iGi are on our server. Every time I try its just not worth my time. :(
