it's is simple, just make after sometime, a suply is droped it able to damage. and no ONE will drop it in water.

What are you saying, that when the supply is dropped in water it does damage?... cant see how that would help

simple fix for placing the crates, they appear 1-2 meters left or right of the boatd depnding onw hich click you use:
I'd have them appear 1-2 in front, the idea being that you semibeach the boat, drop the ammo and then reverse, makes more sense in my mind.

Dr2B Rudd wrote:Well, title says it all. No new models or anything. Remove the m249, and give it a primary weapon that deployed a supply crate next to, in front of, or behind (whichever ends up being the most convenient) the boat. Maybe a reskin to differentiate, and remove the seats ofc.

Why?

1)

Asymmetry. if one team had to rely on supply boats rather than supply trucks then their supply line would be at the water, which would force them to change their tactics. e.g. Bi ming could benefit from this, if the Chi had it it would be like they were being resupplied from up river, whereas the brits are controling "supply road" at the start and therefore get Trucks.

Or even a flag dynamic could be used. You only get trucks spawning at main if you have X flag, otherwise you have to make do with the boat.

2)

On river maps it would be a very fast resupply route, but fraught with danger of ambush, which is a fun dynamic if you ask me :)

Problems

Reloading would be a problem maybe

Patrol boats aren't quite used in this way afaik, but the lack of interest in making new boats for BF2 is quite bad, so this would have to do.

It might be a fun dynamic :) and it could only help Barra 16.
I recon you were with me on the TG server when Cuda 16 players in the rallypoint testphase loaded up yesterday.

Sounds like a good idea though.

"maritime special operations"

Tho i agree a new boat model is needed, and a river based map would be epic... surely the US military have other boats use by non special forces that we can use?

Royal marine Hovercraft:

could be used.

this one has some armor on it.
that spot in the middle where the guy is kneeling looks like the perfect spot for a crate. ;-)

I thinks its a great idea! adds a whole new dimension to the game.

I also think some epic ambushes would be in order too on a future baf/farc map ;)

It's not an RIB. That's a foam flotation/fendering collar around the hull, not an inflatable collar.

Wow i am glad i sort of re opened this forum for discussion from the last post in May.... lolol its really brining up some interesting ideas.. for one yes the 16 player cuda map was just god awful ^_^ lol there isnt even a way to get suppy crates to the mainland to set up FOB's.. that is one aspect that should be fixed...

Creating more Water vehicles wouldnt be such a bad idea .... such as on cuda we rely alot on the helis not to get shot down and its a real hastle when it does happen. the USMC doesnt only use heli's for transport.. soo.... on Sea maps such as cuda a medium armored assault boat or amphibious assault ship would be a nice thing... ( WW2 Beach launch vehicles ) but Modern styles ^_^

there was a post i dont feel like quoting about when driving a boat to launch a crate or supply box you can either click left or right mouse botton i think thats a GREAT idea :) it only makes sence lol especialy since on the 16 player cuda map there is 0 assets for USMC.

i think having a suply boat on water maps would be nice like in muttrah but will it only be able to drop suplys on land near the harbor?

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

a neat idea. Now we just need some maps featuring water-based combat....

because right now boats aren't being paid much heed and all this means is that more organization will be required for boat operations :-(

How about we keep the mounted gun and just add a supply crate to the pre-existing version?

If we're going to have the AAVsomethingorrather, why not have that drop a crate?

Siege at Ochamchira or something similar could have been. Lots of water, urban areas perfect for amphibious landings and boat combat.
