Having played kashan 32 aka "no air support kashan" earlier I have to say from a ground perspective jets are the way to go, even though I prefer helis.

Ground pounding jets, for teamplay reasons, they depend more on inf giving them targets and are therefore less likely to do their own thing.

Ground pounder infantry all the way.

Funny with a thread that half of the team votes for best CAS solution and the other half votes for what they like tho play the most. Cant any mod give this thread a more descriptive title?

Such as " What do you prefer to pound the ground for you, helicopters or jets?

Why was infantry added to the poll btw, this is not what this thread is about. Read the OP.

You dont need to hover for your gunner to shoot, just fly low and straight to the target and if he is a good gunner he will kill the target.

That i want to try, if you really attack an apc or tank or AAV on a straight and low flight to the target, trust me i down you b4 the hellfire is out... It dosent matter if i hit you with the tow, the 30mm cannon, a stinger or the tank shell...

Me myself, Im an infantry whore and would like to vote for that as the best option. But technically, its not. a HAT can take out a tank but theres to many factors that can make it miss. the HAT gunner has to be exposed, HAT can hit any low hills or enemy infantry.


While a chopper or jet can take out the tank fairly easiliy. I still remember one of my earlier games as SL on Kashan, we had a CO and airsupport squad. There was an enemy tank in the valley where SV is. So I radio'd CAS, Lasered and in came the jet. Was a really cool gameplay mechanic and it worked wonders!

Like others said, depends heavily on what map you play tho.

It's all so dependant on who controls the vehicle.

Ground pounding jets, purely because of one time where me and my squad encountered 3 tanks. We were able to take out two, but for the other a lovely A-10 came by and blasted the other tank to pieces Ahh Good ol' Jets

Jets. When you've got a team that's got it together, throwing in a pilot with two huge bombs, rockets, guns, and laser guided missiles is such a steamroll over the enemy it is actually amusing. If any parts of the system are poor though (Self important or impatient SLs, Commanders who don't understand how or why to prioritize requests, or pilots who are off being lone wolfs, or just not very good pilots to begin with) The whole thing falls apart and adds another notch to the "Jets are bad" tally.

(Ground infantry are very very, very important too, air power doesn't hold ground, but it sure makes it easier for the guys on the ground to do their jobs)

I think I'm the only person to vote Artillery.

As for the thread hijack its because of your options that people are doing that.

Also due to the thread title not being the clearest. IE it can be read more then one way.

What do you prefer? Ground pounder, Jets, or Heli's

Probably would help if it said something like.

What do you prefer for CAS? Jets or Helicopters.

I was in a rush so i did not have the time to articulate the title page,

what i meant to say for the title page was, What do you prefer to provide air support, and do ground pounding sorties in support of your team.

The operative word i used in the title was ground pounding, ground pounding by definition stands fot bombing missions or close air support or other types of support indirect fire such as artillery heavy ordancse in other words. it has nothing to do with infantry orientated support weapons, AT's HAT'S grenade kit extra,

Ground pounding is enougher term for grounld attack,

by me putting ground pounding in the title page it should have been more then enough for you to get the message of what i was referring to, i find i highly suppressing that people play PR and simply don't know the miliary jargon or speak the language

I like good jets more than good helicopters, cause its always simpler to take down a helicopter... than a jet. And well, more firepower is more firepower..

Also i enjoy apc backup alot!
