I like this.
The biggest problem I imagine would be tards taking it. An officer kit isn't that hard to get hold of.

Which part of it did they say was unrealistic?'[R-DEV wrote:Rhino;1083922']you do know that this idea was brought up like 6 months ago in the dev forums but was kinda shot down by the MAs by being unrealistic?

It's not very difficult to find examples of this happening in real life...

Psykogundam wrote:i really dont see how it could even possibly be unrealistic. not transporting weapons via vehicles is unrealistic. and any vehicle harbouring weapons going from point A to point B is a weapon cache on some level. the only difference is the size and quantity of munitions there would normally be in real life.
i think the MAs were making a judgement at the time on what was defined as a weapon cache. like... a big pile of weapons and explosives in a basement is a weapon cache, not a bag of rifles on somones back seat. so i understand. but it a real life insurgency there would totally be vehicles with weapons in them roaming around.

I wont speak for them but what I will say is I do like the idea and think it could be a nice addition to Insurgency if done correctly

I wonder why the MAs said it was unrealistic...
Maybe it should only be on Taliban maps? I guess ammo would be moved around alot more than in urban insurgent maps.

Re: Vehicle Cache
Moving ammo around the field is just one benefit of this change. The best part IMO, is that insurgents would have full player control over a game objective. Meaning the coalition will have to fight on their terms. If they want to run away and hide for a while. The coalition HAVE to follow them.
It would turn what is essentially a (american) football like game for coalition, into something with more strategy, planning, and stealth. Currently, they locate a cache area, and use an offensive football like strategy of rushing the enemy lines, time after time, until they are able to slip by and finally score. With a mobile cache, the insurgents could easily jump in the cache and drive away at the last second, when they sense imminent danger. Forcing the coalition to take that into consideration while planning their attack. Securing escape routes or even just sending a scout around to watch from their rear.
I believe the cache vehicle would go good on either taliban or insurgent maps.

Or it gets abused and the cache is hidden in a glitch or in the middle of nowhere.badmojo420 wrote:Moving ammo around the field is just one benefit of this change. Re: Vehicle Cache
There aren't really any places where you can glitch-hide an entire truck. If they find a good place to hide it, good for them, but ways can be devised to make it findable. And again, if they want to hide it somewhere really good, they are going to have to drive it no doubt, which gives BLUFOR a great opportunity to spot it, follow it, and take it down.
I don't think it should be only Taliban though, these kinds of things are used just as much if not more in urban settings like Basrah and Ramiel. THe only map I don't think actually needs them, or wouldn't benefit much from it is Fallujah, because it's so small and because of the maps unique rules and zones. It would have to be tweaked a bit to work on Fallujah, it would be cool though.
I can just imagine the land rover/humvee vs technical and cache highspeed chases unfolding down the streets only to end in an insurgent IED ambush at the last second.

To stop people from using it badly, just have it so you gain points while driving that vehicle, but lose points / high respawn if you die with it?

Re: Vehicle Cache
Maybe he thinks people will use the cache vehicle to ram coalition armor. Since the cache is explosive it might actually do some damage.

Re: Vehicle Cache
It should be a Taliban logistics vehicle and an Insurgent scenario cache. This really can't work in public games.

Re: Vehicle Cache
Can't work in public games? For what reason will this fail in public games?
I can't believe how many people bring up this idea that something as valuable as a cache can't possible by controlled by a player. Yet, we have no problems letting players run around with a tank that never respawns and takes a huge chunk of the teams ticket when destroyed. Or logistics trucks that in the wrong hands can lose a round for your team.
This would be 1 of 10 caches in a round. Even on the worst server, with the worst team, the extent of the damage this vehicle could produce is 1/10th of the teams 'tickets'.
I'm guessing the same people who think this change would ruin matches are the same people who said the APC changes, logistic trucks, and vehicles losing tickets would ruin the game. It has changed the game, i won't argue that, but in my opinion those 3 changes have changed it drastically for the better.

Re: Vehicle Cache
I think it could be a great asset for the insurgents, IF used correctly...thats why they should only get 1 mobile cache out of 10
