M.
The reason the round doesn't have much of a casualty radius is because it does not contain pre-formed fragments, like a frag hand-grenade, and its explosive weight is maybe half to two-thirds that of a hand grenade. It can, however, be launched ten times farther than a thrown grenade.
Explosive overpressure aka "concussion," which, as mentioned, the spin-stabilized grenade relies mostly on, is enhanced by confined spaces. So, firing through a window into a room is actually a
very good way to use it.
Also, the 40x46mm HEDP round will penetrate light armor (up 50mm) on a straight shot in addition to its overpressure burst and any fragmentation near the impact point.

Oooh, so should PR's 40mms be effective against APCs?

Yes, but most likely not on the frontal armor or if they have supplemental armor fitted. There were reports of Mk-19s with HEDP (they use higher velocity rounds, but they have equal penetration; burst radius is larger, though) successfully engaging Iraqi BMPs during ODS, but I haven't found confirmation of those. But given the fact that the Marines use the Mk-19 along with the M2 and TOW in their battalion Weapons Company Combined
Anti-Armor Teams, they must have tried it on something.

This game going to be very interesting once we get those MK-19's

Yes, i have always wondered why those are not ingame, considering how often you see them on pictures from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Simple, for a long time the gap was simply filled by autocannon in PR. For all intents and purposes 25/30mm HE did the job perfectly well, especially as many maps featured symmetrical assets.
One type of gun that shoots at about 400 RPM and produces satisfying explosions on whatever it hits is very much like another.

Except, you know, you don't mount 25/30mm Autocannons on Humvees and Land Rovers. Which we want... Badly.

Oh no?
Its really not that trickey. After all, back in the '70s the Rhodesians were ripping the hispano cannon off Vampires and strapping them to unimogs.
And why do you want them on humvees and landrovers when you can have them on APC/IFVs. If you really want a Mk.19 you can get that on an APC too!

So all of the above in .9 plox

Pssh, an autocannon requires no style or finesse! A Mk19 requires an intricate knowledge of the physics and aiming procedures involved to make it an efficient meat grinder. MMM, tartar sauce and mk19 thats a dish i would eat any day!
