Well, firing port weapons have gone out of fashion at least with western militaries lately. Bradley and Marder for example had them in earlier versions, but they now have addon armor where the firing ports were.
Infantry riding in and IFV/APC normally has vision blocks to get at least an idea of what´s going on around them, with modern vehicles even giving them a view of the gunners thermals and similar situational awareness stuff. I´d still like firing port weapons, or the option to fire from open hatches of the vehicle (which probably is hard to implement without changing the vehicle model).

Quite true, the original idea with firing ports was to allow a IFV to act like a light tank of sorts, it could advance with it's infantry onboard and provide armour protection and a large amount of automatic fire while advancing, then when they reached the target itself they would debus and attack. But this also meant a single RPG would eliminate the vehicle as well as it's cargo. Anymore I believe the tactic is to debus before the objective and have the IFV's guns serve as a mobile support for the infantry. So the firing ports aren't used all that much anymore and most uparmour kits cover them up. But vision blocks would defenitely be needed, otherwise you could get a little confused as to where you are. That and it would make it a tad easy for an enemy to sneak up to you even when fully loaded.
I do have to wonder about multi position vehicles, it certainly is quite fun but it can be rather difficult at times. For example, the driver is going to get points but what if he gets a gomer pyle of a gunner or simply cannot find a gunner. That and the issues of latency and driver gunner cooperation would come into play, if the gunner is playing from Europe and has no voice com then the driver might as well leap out and run for the hills. I suppose I'm just to used to some retard flying off in his own direction as the driver while I'm stuck trying to wing an enemy tank as we move the wrong way..

APFSDS Rounds really need to be one shot, or atleast after one shot make them catch on fire for about 5 seconds.

I've always hated that feeling. But i've done it in combat....so I think I have a better appreciation for it.
It is fun to look at other teammates though while riding around. Somtimes that's all we did in real life. We laughed and joked and shot videos while we were in firefights.
We should have a cameraman in the squad. That way someone can run around take videos of what's going on.

yea i remember playing POE2 and having the guided missles and that was just like the choppers which added a nice aspect to the game.
Truthfully, if all this was implemented, you're going to need some heavy tank training programs because -14 yearolds are going to be like wtf am i doing.
I love the idea. My heart is warmed at the idea, and afer hearing about "tank heavy" maps i get reallllllllllllly happy, because i love playing armor. If i can one shot a t90 and see the turret fly up in the air, i know i've just saved a teamate, and that's something good.
For the devs, i hope you can seriously take some of these suggestions into consideration. Put balance on the backburner for once and just look at it from the reality side and the ability of the o so shi*y bf2 engine

Holy necropost!
Better sights are needed for the driver and countermeasures should be improved. Also "Sabot up" should be heard by all tank members and a "Heat up" varient should be added.

Western Tanks (Brit/US) should have better armour and ammo, but Eastern tanks (Russian/China) should be faster reload and perhaps faster speed and or acceleration? (to make up for less armour) It could be balanced, eg. East fires 2-3 or 4 dose the same as 1-2 West shots, and the East could use speed to flak to negligate armour bonus.

Half of that has been implemented, the other half can't be, and the last half would be so a huge amount of work it wouldn't be worth the return yet.

I think they use the Flechette round now, it fires a bunch of darts, they are not very accurate and basicaly fly all over the place zipping in different directions cutting infantry into hamburger. This is also a dangerous Tank cartridge for friendly infantry supporting the tank as some of the flechettes can come directly backwards at very high velocities!.

Well having been a big "M1 Tank platoon" fan, armor battles have always been close to my heart.
I wonder how the community could help out the Dev's in order to have these suggestions become real one day ?

m1a2 abrams is better armored than the british challenger. m1a2 has the cobham armor plus ceramic composites to resist heat projectiles. on the frontal 60degree arc, its virtually impenetrable
major weakspots are the back and top. 50cal guns will disable an m1a2 when shot in the back. saw one in iraq, where a dashika 13.4mm russian gun diasbled the engine. top is even worse, any rpg shot from a rooftop is guatanteed to penetrate the top of the turret
