If you count up the posts of people who think the map is in cavort to the USMC, in favour to the MEC, or is balanced/down to the players etc, you will find that:

2 people think the map is very much in favour of the USMC.
2 people think the map is very much in favour of the MEC.
18 people think the map is either balanced, down to the players or depends on what strategy each team uses (ie, all saying it balanced)
Anyone else I couldn't work out which way they where swaying or where just on about strategies alone or general chit-chat.

Going by that, ] my own experiences of ingame play and other statistical data I have got on the matter, I do not belive that Muttrah's balance urgently needs to be revised.

There are a few small issues I'm not happy about Muttrah's gameplay, like North City being too much of a stalemate zone, but generally I am very happy with Muttrah's gameplay and balance.

Pilots can't cap flags, so even if the pilot is super 1337 the US can still get capped out and lose the round.

Pilots only matter in the first 10 minutes while a landing is made, and then later if they can get enough kills during a stalemate or to drop crates to support infantry. US can easily win the round by leaving all choppers on the carrier after the first 15 minutes if the infantry are solid due to not losing tickets from downed choppers.

Don't forget that the BTR-80 can elevate it's turret almost twice as high as the BTR-60. Which will mean more trouble for the US :p

*cough*MB turret also has twice angle elevation*cough*
though in this case even 2 BTRs will be overkill for US

I like Muttrah very much in it's current state (though I'd like to play a game of old 0.5 Muttrah just for the fun of comparing them) In my experience both teams have their own advantages and the MEC seem to win slightly more often compared to the US. The map is pretty well balanced and demands a lot of teamwork and coordination.

Yesterday I was playing it on public and we totally crushed the MEC. This was very apparently so because many people worked together well (especially our squad and a supporting APC) and because people knew what they were doing. In my experience if one team has few people who pull this off they will be severely hampered.

Wait wut!
I thought the BTR-60 was the APC for the MEC and a placeholder for the BTR-80, not a placeholder for both. R.I.P BTR-60. What a waste of a re-code. :x

dont worry I'm not going to do a strait swap of the BTR-60s to BTR-80s without fully eventuating them first, like I did for the swap of the BTR-90 for the BTR-60s :)

i think this map is very well balanced, cobra is very effective if utilized well, even if the mec have AA up, cobra has big advantage if it knows where it is,,,, as far as tanks in muttrah is concerned, swap a bmp for btr and i think it would be swell,,, also maybe even make the atk huey respawn but maybe on a 40min timer

The asset advantage is to offset the fact that they are making an amphibious assault; if in which they fail to secure a critical location, they will lose the game almost indefinately. An alarmingly fast ticket bleed makes a successful initial assault paramount.

Might have been said before (But havnt had time to read 6 pages)

Last quite a few rounds in Muttrah have been a wipeout for US.

I think the problem is that when the bleed comes in from losing docks from a few squads making mistakes basically goes into "OMGLOLWUT TICKET BLEED" and everyone rushes to the docks, getting killed, then repeat. (Honestly, I'm not much better, especially if you're in the mndset of wanting to get to the next map)

If the ticket bleed was slower people would take time and think about making a tactical assault on the docks, and properly combining arms. Which could be rather fun...

Oh yeah.... and more boats ftw.

If the pilots suck then your team is fucked.

I remember this one time when all the pilots that were doing trans died within 10 minutes of game and half the team was stuck on the carrier. There was an atack huey pilot named " .CAS.SerchNdestroy".

He had 28 kills and 0 deaths and then he got shot down.

He Told the huey squad to open up and let him in because he could fly the huey better than the pilots on at the time. So The hueys respawned back and he jumped 1 of them. The second huey pilot died on his first run. But this dude serchNdestroy was such a good pilot. He single handedly transported the whole team to docks when the flag was neutral.

THis dude was such a good pilot. He flew 10 feet off the ground to avoid AA at all times. This dude was a pro. To bad the *H* Clan banned him from all servers.
Is it just me or does this kinda sound like Stealth420 IS serchNdestroy? Feels good to pad yourself on the back doesn't it?

it's pretty 50/50. it's a player problem, not a map problem.
just let me fly the transport huey and i'll give you some tacticool insertions ;)

Muttrah.

I Join. I Make Rangers squad. Alone, I get on a chopper and asks the pilot to take me to North City. He crashes :)

I spawn back. New guy in my squad. We get in a chopper. Crash.

By now we have a 4 men squad. We finally get to land on North City, make a nice FOB, hidden and secured. We move up to docks which is being captured. We encounter an APC and survive. We find an enemy FOB! After some deaths APC takes out FOB (after taking a BMP). We move towards north city (neutral). We are a 6 men squad. We defend agains some more enemy hordes going to the docks and get an extraction to West City (North City capped by friendly squad). We capture it. Another squad caps Mosque. Now, we are pushing extremely hard. We swing in and out of South City to Mosque. We recaptured mosque twice. MEC is getting pushed back, but friendly squad requests assitance at South City. We move on. Round won 15-0.

Conclusion: 1 huey and one LB crashed (same pilot). USMC being pushed back to sea.
A squad can swing the whole tide of the mission (started of as 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 6). The game got pretty intense near the ending.

The game isn't unbalanced at all -- we managed to win the game with 1 APC vs 2 BMPs (yes, US APC FTW!) without heavy air support.

It all comes down to tactics. And teamwork.

Whoever was in my squad that round, congrats. It was an honor serving with you.
And I'm not a boss, I'm a leader (I hope) ;)

RANGERS LEAD THE WAY.
