*cough*
(NOTE: Most SLs do NOT use formation. Therefore, as a general rule, do not bunch up, as a RPG can kill you all (that DOES happen) and an AR or grenade can get you all with one burst. Remind your Squad Members to do that too! As a general rule, though, stay within nametag distance from at least 1 squad mate, and do not strafe apart more than a grid (ex. from A1 to B1 or A2) from your squad unless told otherwise/sent in flanking maneuver.)
*cough*

I like the guide. Some parts of it are a bit dated, since there are no training servers anymore, the civvi-rules have changed, etc.

Very useful for me. I haven't even played PR yet as I'm still downloading part 1 so I'm taking this time to research a little. It's going to help me alot. Thanks.

Good luck!

Remember: Follow your Squad Leader and start-off as infantryman. Do not hop into armors just yet--- figure out how to play the game and then you are good to promote yourself (or change roles ;) )

Very good read indeed it helps with the SM's knowing atleast to walk in line on maps like Yamalia, as a SL I dont want to babysit SM's tbh, this should be obligatory read for the newcomers in PR.

Cant wait to see a SL guide to, as most of the SM stuff can be learned over time, but SL is alittle trickier to get as you need to be a SL to get it all :)

Regarding the SL role, does the current MP version (0.9) support SL / Commander issuing Artillery / Area Attack with LGM / LGB???

I asked the same question regarding the SP Co-op of the same version and I was informed that the BF 1.5 patch disabled the artillery / area attack for either bot or human controlled SL / Commander. Can you confirm?

I primarily play SP due to bandwidth issues, so I don't go on MP much.

Thanks in advance.

Tophatter94 wrote:There is also:

1.) Point Fire
2.) Suppressive Fire

Point fire is selectively, and accurately shooting at and taking down a target. "Smart Shooting" if you will.

Suppressive fire is shooting the area of the enemy with intent to supress or kill the enemy.

It is also good to know the concept of bounding and 'fire-and-maneuver.' Static targets are dead targets.
Yeah I treated Point Fire as Effective Fire, and Suppressive Fire as Defensive Fire. I'll update the names in the main post for clarity ;)

Yesterday I was playing "Gaza Beach" as IDF and it was raining artillery on what of the caches!
So yes, I guess it is still here.
and I was playing Kashan 32 too yesterday and I was a tank gunner, My squad was about to attack south village so we asked the commander for JDAMing the village bofore going in.
So again, Yes!

What about SP? That's what I think he wants to know.

Thanks to Hans Martin Slayer I've received the answer for SP Co-op Artillery / Area Attack

Quote:
(SP Co-op) Just to clarify BF 1.5 patch has disabled the bot commander from issuing artillery in SP Co-op mode even if I am squad leader?
Correct.

Quote:
If so, when will this be fixed?
Maybe if you send dice a nice mail?

Quote:
Second can I use artillery in SP Co-op if I command the bot team?
Unfortunately, you can't use artillery in 'pure sp' anymore, you need one human player to spot, one human player to be commander.

It sucks that the simplest things get screwed with a new 'patch', but that's beyond our control.
