used to have all high, but for some reason, lately, Ive been getting 15 FPS even on such non stressing maps like EJOD which I used to get 60+ FPS on with the same system setup...

Settings are now a mix of High and Medium.

any insight into possible reasons Im all ears... drivers are up to date, Im running game booster which shuts down unneeded processes, I've recently reformatted my PC, opened the case and did a good dusting...

Just deleted all shaders in my documents. My card is running at 45 deg core temp and 52 deg ambient temp. When I played ArmA earlier and then exited after 45 minutes or so the numbers were not much higher, maybe upper 50's. A far cry from the time the temps were reaching 79 Celsius. [put arctic cooling fan on card, an aging Radeon x1950 Pro 512Mb PCIe]

ATI control panel is open since I reformatted... would that possibly decrease performance by overriding things in game? Should I try shutting it off? Hmm... that might be it... not sure...

Used to have all maxed out, including AA. No problemos running the game smoothly.

Although had one really annoying shaderbug. When the screen was supposed to go black and white because of excessive bleeding it just went totally black. Only small amounts of red blood steins was visible on the side of the screen. Tried to change the value to 4x and 2x etc. it didn't help. Only way I was able to get rid of it was to put AA totally off.

So now I'm playing with everything maxed out except for anti-aliasing :)

Would be nice to be able to use it again :/

All max, and it looks sweet! And it's stable on 100 fps too, actually 150-200 if fpslock is off, but who cares? It's a nice way to save some GPU-watts and myself from that annoying fan noise
Upgraded this May, overclocked AM3-system with 4890 gpu.

Does this mean the DEVs might just do what I wished and add some sort of MD5 check or make the game auto set everybody to "Medium or above" GFX setting? Because I would sure hope so. For the players here who don't know. Playing on low GFX setting give said players the ability to see things that players on High setting can not. IE: see pass/into smoke, grass not rendering and so players on High setting think they are in cover but are in fact not and so on. There is even a container on Fools road (so I am told) that is white on low setting but on high setting, it is red.

I Would love for this to happen as it would level the playing field so much. I Am sick of low GFX users getting all the advantages. Now before any says STFU. I Am talking about players that set their GFX settings to low even when they have a PC that can more than handle "All High" settings. For them that don't have a PC that can run BF2/PR all high. It's really about time to upgrade. The game itself is what? 5 years old? Surly you can splash out on a 6600GT or above and run all high like I used too.
Yes i can see though smoke, yes i can see through ridges, yes i can see through grass but it only happens when the distance is higher and all the help i can get from it is that sometimes especially on Kashan its easier to see where spotters are but i can do nothing about it and usually they could be seen otherwise also. When on normal inf combat none of the above give you seriously any advantage as it needs quite a long distance to be noticed. Can't even remember when was the last time i saw someone hiding in grass that wasn't rendering to me. Only situation where i've had any help of my settings was once on kashan when apache tried to shoot our tank with hellfires but epicly failed hitting 3-4 times right next to us. I was able to shoot the apache down with .50 cal and after i asked my gunner why he didn't shoot he said there was shitloads of smoke so he couldn't see anything. ;)

And for some students buying new computer even not that good one is huge investment and if i was in situation where i would have to decide whether to buy food or new computer because devs made it so that i can't play anymore i would buy some food.

If you really think someone has an advantage when he uses low end computer and has settings on low turn your settings to low and see do you get any more kills when you play. Or how about when that same guy is lagging like hell on the streets of Fallujah and you shoot him to the head even though he would have been able to kill you without that horrible lag he happened to have. Is that fair?

i stay high all the time and avoid ramiel because, for whatever reason, which no amount of troubleshooting has been able to resolve, the map destroys my FPS
