The servers were full with people who just wanted to learn to fly, true, but there was also a lot of raging and noobing going on, like spawnkilling on infantery training, dropping bombs from a parked aircraft wiping everybody out in the radius and intact runways were a rarity, that was all on one particular server though, the only one that had a signifcant population.
There were plenty of empty servers where 2-5 people could have met up for coordinated training.
I see the point of the devs to get rid of a gamemode that attracts people who want to rage and noob, but I can not fathom why they would not at least offer an offline/local version of the maps so people can learn to handle flying outside a game.
There were tons of empty training servers that I used to learn to fly. I avoided any that had more than 8 people.
There are NO servers at all now.

Training mode was fine. If the devs didn't enjoy the online aspect, then really the problem is the player. Players are hard coded. So in essence, it'd keep people who wanted to grief and be stupid in general out of deployment servers.
Besides, you could play heli-bumpers with your squad, which is ridiculously unrealistic, but it's fun.

So have we had an official response from the DEV's yet.....?
Is anything going to be done about the missing and well used training mode?

I've more or less finished the RT Vehicle Training Map.
[XFIRE]21e4c8[/XFIRE]
It features all Jets and Choppers, and almost all vehicles. Ive also created an edited local python file, which will reduce all timers to 1-5 seconds (except vehicle warm-up times), and which also allows endless firebases, and kits without any restrictions. Once any vehicle moves more than 50m from its spawn, another one pops up.
Everything seems to work fine, but we will be doing some server testing, before a full release in a couple of days. It will then be run on a passworded adminned server.

I just want to throw my voice in here, that I am missing the training servers. I would join empty (or few people) servers to practice flying, and join busy servers to try out all the ground vehicles... which YES includes using AA! Rarely get to use AA in "real" games, so being able to train with it was good.
I was just on Silent Eagle, and a server admin there warned that anyone who tried to fly the Chinook who wasn't experienced with it would get kicked. So, no one flew it!

Space, so your training map would only be available to clans? No pubbies will be able to play it?

The server password will be in the map files so its open to everyone - but the server will have admins available at all times. Any tardish behaviour or griefing of players trying to train, will result in a ban from all RT servers.

I don't understand why people play single player mode against stupid bot, to me, PR is mean't to be played with real people, that single player mode feel as bad as Arma 2, I don't know why people like to play against stupid AI. It's a lot more fun and challenging to play against real humans and I think it's sad this single player mode replaced the training mode

.
With that said, a real training map would be nice

Yes its the same map, but its been set up for training - I've hardly touched for the last year. It will be released as part of a map pack later this year, so this will be useful as a kind of beta test. We did some server testing this evening, and had some great fun, but unfortunately I think a few vehicles will have to be removed to decrease lag issues. Other than that, it all went well, so it should be available before the weekend

I sorely miss training as I was able to keep up my proficiency in the multitude of helos the game offers as each handles uniquely. I would like to get some more chinook time in training versus learning on a live server for example (Tactics and Teamwork) on Yamalia or Archer. The chinook is unique is that it has real poor visibility a co-pilot would be a good idea and it drops like a rock when you lower the throttle.

Has anyone else noticed the cartoonish feel of the aircraft in co-op mode? Jets no longer feel the same. Maybe I'm crazy.
