I'd say its more comparable to Ramiel: vast, close urban areas. If you go into the city, it's very easy to get flanked, surrounded or ambushed, often with no realistic fall back positions, as opposed to Karbala or Basrah. Worth remembering CQB favours Ins. factions as well.
Still, I'd say it's doable with the right tactics/mindset. The usual Insurgency stuff: identify a likely cache location (UAV or recce); get in, get out, don't engage unnecessary targets. Or The Big Blue Blob
Yeah, its a-symmetrical, and yeah, it probably requires more TEAMwork for the Blufor, but as stated elsewhere, don't think that makes it bad.

Gaza is a great map. I love every bit of it and it's only as balanced as the teams you play it with. I have had victories as commanders on both sides. And some very horrible defeats.
It is a hard map. But the Hamas are seriously under gunned at game start. The MERK Tank can take multiple RPGS and IEDS. The APCS are aquatic which is really the only benifet of using them.. but in the long run if the IDF team is silly enough to hand them Scoped weapons. They deserve a bit of a spanking to learn from the mistake.
CodeRedFox;1277960']Absolutely, its called asymmetrical warfare. And personally the best part of PR.
Yes, but most of the time in asymmetrical warfare most casualties are suffered by the ill-equipped and less organized side, which in this case, should be hamas.
Nice scoped kits? It's close quarters combat the entire time. As IDF as soon as I kill hamas I take his weapon. What's better, a scoped kit for shooting long range which you do 10% of the time or a M-16/AK that will hit whatever you're shooting at on Auto as long as it's within 60 meters. It's a no-brainer.
Fail, most of the time when I play on that map, the hamas take IDF kits right away especially the SAW kit. They just get on top of the buildings, pick a nice spot and spray the hell out of the IDF who are trying to move through the open desert area which leads to the city. Believe it or not, some mofos even request HAT kits. But thats on every insurgency.

I'm just helping the guys that say it is lopsided. But, for me personally, half the time I survive bomb cars, that is if my driver spots them in time, or I do. But seriously, there is unending amount of those bomb cars looks like it. Or maybe its just me.

I agree 100%. Even without the IDF kits, the HAMAS SL kit and M16A1 are like a chaingun in CQB.
[R-CON]Rudd wrote:Merkava much?
The Merkava is pretty **** in CQB and there are so many bombcars for HAMAS that its pretty easy to flank one in the city. If it stays out of the city and just picks off targets from the desert though, its of no use for the troops who actually push into the city from the desert as they have no tank support.

it's a great map which brings down one of the main things 0.9 was supposed to be about, thinking outside the box. No you can't just stomp around as BluFor because you're BluFor and therefore own, you have to sneak, avoid contact, avoid ambush, and avoid staying still.
Imho the tanks are a bit of a red herring - people see them and therefore use them despite their use being limited (they don't work in the city and the HAMAS get too many HAT kits from idiots) on the map.

But how would it be in a PRT/clan battle event, is it the old story, hard with teamwork and nearly impossible without?

In PRT/clan battle the problem is that IDF might be organized, but so is Hamas, making it 100x harder for IDF. Problem with Gaza is lot of enterable buildings with wide open roads trough the city, effectively making it extremely hard for IDF to take ground.

yes but a good HAMAS team requires idiots on the IDF team to get good enough weapons to take out the IDF armour and units, if both sides are organised it will be a fairly even contest imho

Meh the map is hard for the IDF indeed, they start in a corner on a 1km map, few distant marksmen/lmgs can cover the whole IDF starting point pretty good. IDF is missing multiple entry points.

It seems fairly frequent and useful to find a SAW or sniper at IDF main suppressing them anyway, ideal for them with cover and lots of ammo.

Which still ATM is not entirely accurate, once Gameplay > Realism in PR. Said by many people, IIRC a couple of DEVs as well.

The IDF also have very unrealiable transportation. Those APCs made out of paper don't help one bit.

I think actually the proper term is "VCPC" Very Combustible Personnel Carrier. These aren't even capable of being used for their proper role, transporting infantry in and then getting the hell out of town.

Actually they're called "Zippo's" cause, and I quote, "they go up in flames so quickly"
Yeah, its a hard map for the IDF no doubt. The Merkava is basically stuck outside near IDF main, unless it wants to die, the M113s are practically useless, and the city is VERY easy for HAMAS to lock down and stop any infantry from advancing.
The only option I can really imagine working is to push with
everything at one single point, and just force your way through. Though I doubt you'd see that happen in a pubby game.
Would
not want to play this one in the PRT
EDIT: Ah, I've already commented in this thread. How about that
