Driving the Ammo Box is not really the best way because you can not get in houses/through broken brick walls with them. Just make it so there is a box, with a kit in it(visually). This means that the box can be moved 5 min after it was last dropped. I know, it sucks, but it might be the best compromise. Also make it that when you drop the kit, you would also deploy the ammo crate, so you can rearm off it.

If this is hardcoded, then just make a kit(requestable from APC/supply crate) that has a lot of INF ammo packs, like the ones every rifleman has, OR just give that kit a really big ammo box, but I don't know if that is possible, might be hardcoded. Also make this kit one per squad, preferably a 4 man squad(to avoid abuse by spamming supply crates with ammo boxes) and respawnable like every 10 min, so if its lost it won't be a super major loss.

Thanks for raising my suggestion again Slight. The initial idea I had, just to clarify, was that the APC's drop the ammo boxes, which behave exactly as they currently do in game except with code added to them from the kit pickup. So the ammo box would not be a kit, just have some properties of one. While holding one it would have no activatable properties, perhaps, only a single weapon slot which would show a held ammo box for aesthetics purposes. Once dropped it would behave exactly the same was as the ammo box again, until picked up.

It was this video that tipped me off that it may be possible, that if you can have a kit which when dropped behaves like a fixed emplacement, then it may just be possible to have a kit when dropped that behaves like an ammo box:

The problem with giving the kit an activatable slot which would spawn multiple ammo bags would be: an ammo bag, as they are currently coded contains a full resupply of 1 item, which would invariably make it so that this kit could sit in a corner resupplying itself while pumping out an infinite number of ammo bags. Perhaps it could be made non resupplyable, not sure, but if you could it would be a decent work around.

When I was first thought of this idea, that was one of my original lines of thought, based on the way vehicles used to in the past provide ammo to people in close contact with them. Not sure if this was a VBF2 thing on an early PR feature. It would be a passable work around, other than the risk of instant death for the people carrying ammo boxes and glitchy vehicle behaviour. Imagine you send two guys to go grab an ammo box and put it in a foxhole, get back to what you were doing, hear a crash and see your two squad mates upside down with there legs running in the air and smoke coming out of them. OMG you flipped it you noobs!

To make it clear, i was talking about supply crate here, which is somewhat bigger. so there may be slight chances of making it more stable :) .
Once again, i fancy nathatnators idea, which will just add 1 slot with ammo box (empty) to
unarmed kit, so it is the simplest idea here.

You should be able to do it, so you can "pick up" the crate you have just dropped and move it to other place. Of course it must be made that 1 full crate on the ground reloads 1 crate in inventory, and somewhat fix that after dropping the crate it will automatically select your hands, and your crate (read "weapon") wont reload unless you have selected it, so you wont reload your crate from the crate on floor without intent, which would make this malfunctioning.
When i write it, it doesnt seem so much simple now :D

This is a cool suggestion indeed. Have been many a times that there is ammo, but its right in the field of fire of the enemy! See if you can reload your LAT or HAT off that :P

The deploable MG thingie is not exactly what we need. He just deployed his MG, like in FH2, but he still haz the kit with the deployable MG. To get his MG back he just gets out of the MG, and it will automatically return to him. If he loses the kit while the MG is there, the MG will remain there until someone jumps in it and out. After that its gone. It might not be hardcoded, but I guess they had an idea why to make it that way.

If I think about this again, it can work perfectly, if u drop the ammo kit near the crate.I think the Devs deserve the next comment on the thread. :smile: :p

This would really allow you to setup hardpoints in a city, as you are able to hold it longer as you got moree ammo and saver then when your supplies are outside. Running low on ammo is the number 1 reason to fall back.
