You have to make an effort to get more.

Secure an ammo truck for just a minute while you go drop the crates near your ambush point, think about setting it just a little closer to the cache, or just be willing to bear walking back and forth between the ambush and the cache.

It's a risk, and it may be a bit tiresome, but overall it increases realism and gameplay; In reality, they'll often use more than one in conjunction, especially with the smaller charges. In game, you're now forced to use an ammo source like the cache, which allows for more tactical BluFor players to watch you and try to locate the cache by your movement.

The resulting explosion is just all the more delightful when you've had to work a little for it.

I just explained how unrealistic your suggestion is (more damage anyway, I'm sure someone could carry two IED's at one time, but that's besides the point) and how it would negatively effect gameplay by reducing troop transport and ground-supply routes, crippling the BluFor.

Realisticly, They don't make humvees turn into a puff of smoke, but they do enough damage them enough where if used in tandem with RPG's or more IED's they become immensely effective.

Do this. Problem Solved. There's no point to having higher damage IEDs when you have an unlimited supply of them. Place one, get some more from ammo crates. Or work with a buddy that has IEDs or an RPG.

Also @ rushn: Move with friendly units. I've found using a "sniper team" tactic works amazingly well as an ambusher. Use a civi to spot, scout, and attract enemies to an ambush point. Use IED's to set up and when the time is right, get a good ambush.
