Again, we would probably change whatever map is running 24/7 very occasionally so that there's still some variety. The "spacer" maps and the seeder map will be changed every 3 days, going through a pre-determined rotation.

And every other week, Insurgency 24/7 with Kashan being the "spacer" map

My internet isn't consistent enough for me to fly jets or helos without crashing and I don't like getting bombed all round so I avoild Kashan whenever possible.

I like some of the other less popular AAS maps like Barracuda, Beirut, and Qwai though.

The OP's question is open to approval and disapproval, this is a forum of many views and opinions.

I doubt the admins are discouraged from what they've read here, the real response is the popularity of the server.

As much as I personally dislike 24/7 servers I recognize many appreciate them, Muttrah 24/7 for example is undeniably popular.

I understand that Kashan is so far the most ideal jet map and the only 4x4km desert map in PR, so it's special to put it nicely. However I consider it extremely unsuitable for infantry and frankly boring by now (albeit I'm fussy with all maps, especially older ones).

Both Kashan and Qinling are somewhat prototypes/concept demonstrators which I'm eager to see phased out and replaced.

Rudd's upcoming 4x4km desert/urban map should be more interesting for infantry whilst still catering for open tank and helicopter battles. Of course though it's not a direct Kashan replacement, partly due to the absence of opposing airfields and jet combat.

I can't imagine it'd be difficult for an established mapper to replace Kashan with something even marginally more detailed.

Kashan is my favourite map, but because of that it is often the most frustrating, played as god intended (well DEV's anyway) with inter squad comms and asset co ordination (read mumble) it is simply an awesome example of how good PR can be.

All to often we've all seen it played not so well, with very little comms, virtually no coordination with squads not even having the patience to deploy fall back fobs at the first flags, suicidal trans helis, no logistics drivers, AAV's used as last ditch trans not as AA etc etc ....

It is also the map in PR that needs over 60 players to be enjoyable IMHO....

I would be concerned that only at peak times for teamwork players this would be achieved.

So sadly my vote would be no to 24/7 but yes to organised well admined 'event' night forcing use of Mumble/TS/Vent as appropriate.

alot of people seem to complain about coordination so perhaps you could make it a mumble only server?

Meh, I don't like the idea of mumble only, such as Alpha Project. Maybe all PX members could encourage the use of mumble and use it themselves, therefore they gain more members to their community ---? More people using mumble.

actually fighter thats better . Have a cookie. Seems like a similar system to TG? they don't force mumble use but merely encourage it through member usage.

The problem with that is that there's no bloody break from Kashan. We'll definitely be using all game modes (sans C&C, that's not polished enough for public play) -- but there will have to be at least two game maps. We'll also repeat all game modes like this to ensure everyone has a chance to play all game modes on both teams if they so choose:

1. Random AAS/INS Map (changes every 3 days) [Blu]
2. Kashan 16 [Op]
3. Kashan 32 [Blu]
2. Random AAS/INS Map (changes every 3 days) [Op]
4. Kashan 64 [Blu]
5. Kashan 32 [Op]
6. Kashan 16 [Blu]
(Player becomes [Op] on #1 after #6 -- only one 64 is intentional here)


We'll also, of course, be heavily encouraging Mumble use, but I don't think we can just lock the server and say "mumble only". Phoenix is an open community.. not one based around a select few. That said, if any of you have clans out there but no server and are looking for a home, you are more than welcome here; any group over four people will have themselves allocated a Teamspeak channel and a subforum if you like assuming you're also involved in the community itself and adhere to our standards.
