Do I need to buy wires or do they come packed with them? Also my ex is gonna by me windows 7 because her college sells them dirt cheap, so I got lucky.

All wires should be included with everything.

Ex-gf still doing favors? lol I wish mine was like that.

Just make sure you dont get the Windows 7 starter as it only supports 2gb of RAM.

You need the win7 premium or professional 64 bits.

Man!! I just heard monday is the special everything 20% off day on newegg!!!!

lol just kidding :P

Its really not rocket science, you should be able to figure out everything.

TIP: Take your time and set the cpu on the mobo first thing. Be extremely gentle and dont push it in, if you break a pin its over. Everything else is quite easy.

Read the instruction on everything, dont rush it.

As for me I think im going to go super cheap and get a rig to play PR ASAP lol

Probably gonna get a phenom x2 555 and try to unlock it into a 955, worst case scenario is I end up with an very OCable 99$ cpu. Plus I can always upgrade to a x6 1090t when they get cheaper.

I need to get a CPU, MOBO, RAM, PSU and GFX all under 500 if I wanna play this month, if not I gotta wait till next month and get a 800$ budget... Sucks to wait :( lol

Oh no pressure right? lol Like I said before, my last build was about 8 years ago, so think about how long I've been waiting. haha

Its rather easy to set the CPU in, but some people tend to think that *it needs a little push to fit in*, DONT do that, lol. It does need to be SLIGHTLY pushed in but only once you see its well into the holes. Then put the grease if its not already on it, set the hatsink and the fan, and then the RAM.

Basicly it goes in 3 steps. First of all you need a nice clean table and a clean room with no dust flying around. Remove MOBO from plastic and leave it on its little cushion in the box (you can do it straight on the table but your gonna push that RAM in pretty hard so its better to be safe, or you can always set the ram once its inside, I love to see what I do, its up to you for that)

-Install CPU, Heatsink and fan.
-Install RAM
---------------------
Screw in case your Power supply
---------------------
-Install mobo in case, dont screw it too hard, you just want it to hold the mobo steady, not crackin it.
-Install your DVD, CD and HDD.
Plug everything together. Power cables, SATA cables, IDE and case fan power.
(ASUS now offers a nice white plug for all the front panel pins, this is a god gift as it used to be a real PITA to set those pins once the mobo is inside the case.)
-Plug in all those pins by reffering to the manual.
-Plug the white panel extension into the mobo (normally its in the corner opposite to CPU)

Now you want to make room for airflow so push aside and strap all those cables so you have maximum space in there.

Once that is done, Plug in your video card, and set the proper power connections. Repeat last step to make room for airflow. (On the m4a89gtd you must plug the video card on the bottom PCI-E and leave that switch card on the first top slot, remove the switch card only to set it in crossfire with another video card)

Id suggest leaving the Video Card and Sound card for AFTER that windows is installed. Just so that if anything is wrong you can pinpoint it easier.

Your now ready to power up, so connect your PSU to the powerbar, plug your monitor and speakers.

Cross your fingers and press the power button. :)

Press the MemOK! button on the motherboard to check your memory. Not sure if windows must be installed before doing that, cant hurt to try before.

If everything checks out fine (memok!, All drives recognised) install windows.

Then when windows runs fine, Shut down everything, remove power cord from PSU and install your video card. Boot up. Turn off your integrated graphics card in control panel/system. Install drivers for your 5850. Reboot.

Repeat for soundcard, turn everything off, plug and boot. Turn off integrated sound, install drivers, reboot.

Everything should now work flawless. :) Update windows and drivers. Remove all old drivers and reboot before installin new ones. Always one at a time. This is vital to make sure no drive residues are left behind which could compromise system integrity and stability. Once everything is up to date, windows, GFX drivers, Sound Drivers, DVD and SATA drivers.

Install BF2, PR , PunkBuster and Defrag your disk. You can then proceed to enjoy yourself like a mofo that I shall envy for atleast a few days. LOL.

P.S: if everything goes as planned, you shouldnt need to play with the BIOS before all your drivers and windows is installed. But you must go into BIOS, perhaps before installing BF2, to make sure everything is set correctly. CPU speeds, RAM timings, VGA settings, ect...

I was reading a review of the SSD card, one review said it fails to come with a bracket, where can I get one?

You mean a bracket to make it fit like a normal HD in your box? No idea really, probably at a local computer store they could help you out. But just wait maybe your case comes with one, if its new enough.

Ok so I'm looking at windows 7 pro. upgrade 64 bit.

Depending on the version of Windows you're currently running, installing Windows 7 on your PC may be a lengthy process. Run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to make sure your PC can run Windows 7, and then review the information below prior to buying or installing Windows 7 on your PC.

If you switch from a 64-bit version to a 32-bit version of Windows, or vice versa, you'll need to do a custom (clean) installation.

Clean would still be a new build with nothing on it, right?

Everything you got is windows 7 ready bro, and yes of course with all your new gear its totally clean, theres absolutely nothing installed on it.

If you use an old hard drive just reformat it.

What they say up there is just to protect themselves from noobs who bought win7 too quick without having proper gear to run it.

I was just confused when it said upgrade, like you had to have win. 7 already on and it just upgraded it to pro.

They just ment like if you had windows 98, 2000, XP or ect.. Im pretty sure if you could run vista you could run 7 without a problem (vista was a hungry failure) but say if youre running win98 second edition on a p3, you cant run win7 thats for sure. lol.

I would so laught at customer support if some dude called bitching that he cant run win7 after buying it for his P3 rig :D

Thats what System requirements and recommended requirements are for. Just like for any game or app.

Dont stress it man, you got the rig I wanted, lol.

Me I gotta freaking wait because my old cheapo PSU I bought to replace my antec 380w a while back, doesnt have enought amps on the dual +12v rails to run the PHenom x4 :( And btw you probably stressin with that as we speak but I checked it out you got crazy fn Amperes on your 750w, dont worry about NOTHING. lol.

So Im gonna have to build everything in november. Hopefully Ill have enought left to buy a shiny new box :)

I find that Antec 300 so freaking sexy. lol

Ok, MOBO here, and First picture are all the parts it came with, I see now screws.

Second I can't find where to put the CPU, It looks nothing like my old MOBO.

Screws are usually supplied with the case, not the MOBO, you should be able to re-use the old ones.

The CPU goes to the left of the sticker that says 37%.

Be sure to read and re-read the installation manual for the MOBO. It will be a great help to know what each connector is for... etc

yeah, only problem with that pad is it seems way to huge for a CPU. Found the screws in a tool box stashed away under the hd with about 150 screws and 10 hd slides haha.

Also Johnny said I needed grease or something for my CPU and/or heatsink, but nothing came with grease.

your pic is a little blurry but there should be a lever on the side of the metal cage that holds the cpu. it kinda unhinges and folds up to show where the CPU goes. There will be a protective insert inplace of the CPU to protect the contacts that you wil need to remove to insert the CPU. The install manual should have a picture walkthrough for this.

Y E S!!! you need thermal paste for the CPU. You will have to get it separately. when you apply the thermal paste google for a few tutorials on the best way. It will be something like smear it on with a clean finger, wipe all the way off with a paper towel or something, then put more on before you install it.
