Do I need to buy wires or do they come packed with them? Also my ex is gonna by me windows 7 because her college sells them dirt cheap, so I got lucky.

Read the instruction on everything, dont rush it.
I need to get a CPU, MOBO, RAM, PSU and GFX all under 500 if I wanna play this month, if not I gotta wait till next month and get a 800$ budget... Sucks to waitlol
Its rather easy to set the CPU in, but some people tend to think that *it needs a little push to fit in*, DONT do that, lol. It does need to be SLIGHTLY pushed in but only once you see its well into the holes. Then put the grease if its not already on it, set the hatsink and the fan, and then the RAM.gx wrote:Oh no pressure right? lol Like I said before, my last build was about 8 years ago, so think about how long I've been waiting. haha
What about Win 7 ultimate?JohnnyTheIED wrote:All wires should be included with everything.
Ex-gf still doing favors? lol I wish mine was like that.
Just make sure you dont get the Windows 7 starter as it only supports 2gb of RAM.
You need the win7 premium or professional 64 bits.
Not sure, probably only comes with extras like office and stuff like that.gx wrote:What about Win 7 ultimate?
Everything you got is windows 7 ready bro, and yes of course with all your new gear its totally clean, theres absolutely nothing installed on it.gx wrote:Ok so I'm looking at windows 7 pro. upgrade 64 bit.
Depending on the version of Windows you're currently running, installing Windows 7 on your PC may be a lengthy process. Run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to make sure your PC can run Windows 7, and then review the information below prior to buying or installing Windows 7 on your PC.
If you switch from a 64-bit version to a 32-bit version of Windows, or vice versa, you'll need to do a custom (clean) installation.
Clean would still be a new build with nothing on it, right?
I was just confused when it said upgrade, like you had to have win. 7 already on and it just upgraded it to pro.JohnnyTheIED wrote:Everything you got is windows 7 ready bro, and yes of course with all your new gear its totally clean, theres absolutely nothing installed on it.
If you use an old hard drive just reformat it.
What they say up there is just to protect themselves from noobs who bought win7 too quick without having proper gear to run it.
They just ment like if you had windows 98, 2000, XP or ect.. Im pretty sure if you could run vista you could run 7 without a problem (vista was a hungry failure) but say if youre running win98 second edition on a p3, you cant run win7 thats for sure. lol.gx wrote:I was just confused when it said upgrade, like you had to have win. 7 already on and it just upgraded it to pro.
Damn, my old power supply is 420, when did you buy that PSU? hahaJohnnyTheIED wrote:They just ment like if you had windows 98, 2000, XP or ect.. I would so laught at customer support if some dude called bitching that he cant run win7 after buying it for his P3 rig
Thats what System requirements and recommended requirements are for. Just like for any game or app.
Dont stress it man, you got the rig I wanted, lol.
Me I gotta freaking wait because my old cheapo PSU I bought to replace my antec 380w a while back, doesnt have enought amps on the dual +12v rails to run the PHenom x4And btw you probably stressin with that as we speak but I checked it out you got crazy fn Amperes on your 750w, dont worry about NOTHING. lol.
So Im gonna have to build everything in november. Hopefully Ill have enought left to buy a shiny new box
I find that Antec 300 so freaking sexy. lol
Screws are usually supplied with the case, not the MOBO, you should be able to re-use the old ones.gx wrote:Ok, MOBO here, and First picture are all the parts it came with, I see now screws.

Second I can't find where to put the CPU, It looks nothing like my old MOBO.

yeah, only problem with that pad is it seems way to huge for a CPU. Found the screws in a tool box stashed away under the hd with about 150 screws and 10 hd slides haha.SnipeHunt wrote:Screws are usually supplied with the case, not the MOBO, you should be able to re-use the old ones.
The CPU goes to the left of the sticker that says 37%.
Be sure to read and re-read the installation manual for the MOBO. It will be a great help to know what each connector is for... etc
