Yes, they have been there for a while.

Yeah, the Russian/MEC have had those lock signatures since .85 at least.
I have never seen them before in any video or ingame. Funny since I've piloted and gunned every attack chopper except the Havok, just never got the chance.

Both of those are already on IIRC.

Edit: They aren't actually, but there was a screenshot floating around from one of the SP devs that had the Havok above west city centre?

So to answer your question, the camera is on the chopper or w/e vehicle you fired the missile from.
AGM-65A/B/D Maverick are optically guided. Weapon operator receives a view via the missile's seeker head (either TV or IR); selects the target and the image is 'saved' by the missile as it launches; the missile then stores the image and compares the target against its own view as it flies. The operator does not view the inbound image, but he/she does view the target in the cockpit via a camera mounted on the missile's nose. So no, not entirely as represented in vBF2 but...

...The Israeli SPIKE-ER on the other hand has a fibre-optic link between the missile and the gunner. The view from the missile's seeker head camera is continuously fed back to the weapon's operator and they can correct the missile's path in flight. This has exactly the kind of advantages that you get in vBF2 with the system - you can fire from beyond visual range or from behind cover/concealment, and guide the warhead, in real-time, via an optical link.

So yeah, DICE didn't fabricate it. It's a real technology that's in current service with a fair few nations and is a bloody good piece of kit, from what I've read.
