I have a GeForce 7900 GS
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.40GHz
2GB RAM

I run everything on low (texture/geometry are med) AA and Dynamics are Off.

I fly choppers and having an FPS drop can really mess you up. The only map I have an issue with in .95 (so far) is Al Basrah. When I enter the city my game literally freezes and then when it unfreezes all I see is a black screen that says "dead". I never had this issue in previous versions. I don't understand how Muttrah can be smooth every where for me but Basrah isn't considering the city is much smaller.

yeah something works wrong in0.957 even with high end rigs. never was under 60 fps bevore 0.957 . now i am mostly in 25-30...mutrah was smooth as butter and now jeerky like fish n:=

I only lag when using the binoculars, but it only happens when there is allot of scenery etc. around.

lag is realitve. smooth gameplay is 60 fps stock vsync everywhere.

30fps+ is playbale.

20-30 is hard. under 20 its slideshow.

the most people dont realize they play 20-30 cause for them its ok...but play with 60fps vsync. the gaming expiereince is very better plus you are hitting better.

Project Reality: Battlefield 2 Progress
Since the successful release of Project Reality v0.95, we have been developing the next installment of Project Reality: BF2, the v0.96 patch. This patch will focus heavily on the optimization of the entire PR:BF2 modification and will also contain multiple bug fixes.
hopefully this patch resolves this fps issue a few of us have..

also if your looking for a detailed breakdown of the basics behind nvidia CP see here

Well same for me config is in profile, when i play for 1+ hour i get freqwent game freeze ups and the overall fps drops from ~30-40 to 15-30...Unplayabble in most of the firefights...

Hi,

I have got the same problems - Huge fps drops after v095 and load times are sick today. But i have saved few fps! (keep reading)

My specs aren't very optimized because my older video card (Not so old - 8800GTX) burned out memory chips so I had to buy a new card.

C2D E6850 @ 3GHz
ENGTX460 768MB
4GB DDR2
WIN 7 Ultimate x64

Settings Maxed Out (1920x1200) just like always. Ofc. PC is up-to-date just like always too.

As you see, 460 is oversized for my specs but it was the best choice from the unused video cards (price and other specs of video card).

Anyway, I'm a guy who monitors about everything. ;) (Ok, i didn't mean things like... yah, things like that. Seriously.)

I noticed that my RAM were running out - PR must to be a HUGE RAM EATER. Even the new games don't eat like that. I looked for a memory cleaner / optimizer and found one (link at the bottom). I set it to run in the background and results were nice, but i didn't get all the lost fps back. If you try this out then try to find which settings are the best for you.

My settings are below BUT I haven't tried out all combos yet.
"Trim processes working set when usage exceeds 80%"
"Clear system cache when usage exceeds 80%"

There might be better softwares which have more settings but i like this one;
Memory Cleaner - Software - Koshy John

- Insomniumer / Your nightmare on the battlefield.

yes ram eating is a BF 2 prob since release. good news is that bf2 1.5 patch can adress more then 2 gig ram only for the game. this happens obly on 64 bit systems with 4 gig or more ram.

so mem clearing helps and causes stutters, but the reason of fps drops is in 0.957. and with 0.96 we hopefully get the Full FPS back.

It seems that there was this topic which describes my problem exactly. At least i am not the only one, so it is most likely problem with map optimization.

I noticed that my RAM were running out - PR must to be a HUGE RAM EATER.
I don't think PR is that big of a RAM eater that 4 gigs runs out. I think u are just confusing the thing that Superfetcher service caches Win 7 programs to the RAM memory cos otherwise the RAM would just be idle and still consuming power. Afaik Superfetcher never denies memory of any particular program if it needs it. So far PR eats about 2 gigs of my 4 gigs.

Can some dev confirm that there indeed is some optimization problems in some maps?

at win 32 system it is you have only like 1.8 gig for Pr.exe.

win64 has 2.5 gigs.

Best to go with 8 gb.

Performance probleme is CPU depending, a [email protected] ghz bring me full fps back.

I've yet to notice any difference in the picture nor in the fps by changing AA stuff from ATT. And i wonder how it could raise the fps even when now my gpu usage is about 20-30% only. And the gpu is underclocked even...

well, with me i got pretty much more fps with AMSAA .... and i think my gpu is also not used very much.

Did you got more fps on all maps or just in those maps that are not that well optimized, like Fallujah etc..? Half of the maps run fine for me, just few seem to give gray hair...

what I really hate is the sound bug, it ruins the game and makes the game totally unrealistic.

ATI user?

make sure you have the latest catalyst 11.2
make sure Catalyst AI is set to standard (advanced give massive fps drop)
make sure Anti analising and Antistropic are set application controlled.
delete your cache or if you want your entyire profile in mydocuments\battlefield 2\cache - profiles

reload lashkar on local std. Optimise new shaders with catalyst AI set normal

no, only AA.
i force AF to 16x and it runs fine on most maps, also, bf2 doesnt have any/enough AF itself to look good :/

I am an ATI user.
Tried that cache stuff etc. but I still get a massive fps drop in maps like Fallujah, Lashkar and Korengal Valley when looking to certain direction.

It is kinda frustrating that you have to play with 20 fps on those maps when your gpu is pretty much idle (20-40%) and cpu cores are hovering around 60-90% only.

Anymore tips or tricks?

I have i7 2600k (sandy bridge) @♦ 4 GHZ with ATI radeon 5850 and 8 GO DDR3 1600 mhz, hard disk SSD OCZ win7 64. I have FPS drop in some map and some area around 60 70 fps . Not so bad but i have a powerfull computer... Distance view seems to be the trouble since project reality change it.
