Re: New Computer
Be sure the heatsink is making proper contact while your at it, it could be that the CPU is just overheating and crashing when you try to run it.

A telltale sign is any loud, low, irregular, clicking, or grinding sound which is emitted from the drive.

Re: New Computer
If it was for me, I'd ban you for not posting the solution which we tried to find for more than 4 thread pages.Darkcloak2 wrote:Thanks for all the help guys. I found the problem in the end but I don't dare post it here for fear of getting banned for pure stupidity. Thanks again.
Seriously though:
It does not matter how stupid you assume it is. What matters is that there might be people doing the same mistake finding this thread and reading something along - "I know what it was but I won't tell anybody". What it is, is like saying "Rhino I found a bug but I won't tell you where and what it is, you have to look for yourself".
So in this case people not finding the anwer in this thread will inquire further help which unnessecariliy costs us time because you fell too ashamed to post what your mistake was.
Please post what your solution is so we can have a decent ending to this thread.
The HDD clicking can be normal. For example my Cavier Green 1TB disks all (4) click once when I boot my NAS. But since they don't start up 100% at the same time you can hear multiple clicks.turdinathor wrote:just reseated it with no luck. i dont even get bios so i bet its not the problem. when i hear the hd spin up it clicks twice, any 1 know if it could have failed.
So I would say one click per HDD is ok when the spinning up starts.
this totally does not sound right. What is your motherboard (model/manufacturer)? Consult your mobo-manual for this possibly error code blinking.power button blinks on and off
If it is not a regular blinking it might simply be that the led connections are switched (HDD led on power led and vise versa?). Maybe there is more to it - consult your manual for the correct pin setup.
Since when does this problem occur? and please post specs and try to be as descriptive as possible when describing a problem. A one-liner usually doesn't cut it.
