Be sure the heatsink is making proper contact while your at it, it could be that the CPU is just overheating and crashing when you try to run it.
A telltale sign is any loud, low, irregular, clicking, or grinding sound which is emitted from the drive.

The HDD clicking can be normal. For example my Cavier Green 1TB disks all (4) click once when I boot my NAS. this totally does not sound right. What is your motherboard (model/manufacturer)? Consult your mobo-manual for this possibly error code blinking.power button blinks on and off
