I find Muttrah to be a perfect example of how the maps should be done. The architecture of the city is simply amazing. It's realistic and interesting at the same time. You have the old castle, construction site, modern hotel, main city, parks, docks, mountains... It's simply awesome. And I do find it very enjoyable from the gameplay point of view as well. The infantry has a lot of places to hide from CAS and APCs. The armor is very powerful in the docks but vulnerable in the city. Transports need secure landing zones and so on... And MEC is one of my favourite factions, I like all of their equipment, especially G3. Crewmen have MP5! Too bad the old MG is gone. Couldn't we have it as right click option?

Many people like the idea of a simplistic map strategy. I personally think this is a very well done map which takes a moderate amount of strategy on game-players parts to advance and secure. I also like the wide open space, with many enterable buildings, perfect for sniping. The fog of war is set at a far distance so it is a very clear view at long distances, which compliments the detail put into the layout of the entire city.

What they said... urban warfare + hueys + BTR's and LAV's
Although I am a little over Muttrah.. I think i've over played it on =HOG=

It can be an awesome map but it can also be a terrible map depending on your side. it can go either way. too many US want to fob up the back even b4 docks is capped and as MEC on a bad squad / side you can end up with no fobs, a hell of a walk just to meet a LAV at your journeys end :P

A couple of bad crewie's can end it for mec... that BTR support is extremley important.

It is an urban map that is not Insurgency.

We all love urban maps on AAS, but there arent enough

it's the only full on urban map featuring both sides being conventional forces. The rest of the maps dont concentrate on urban environments and have other elements as well. Most players now a days prefer CQB type combat over jungle or open areas.

Lol, I've never really realized that before, probably because when it came out there was EJOD and a few others maps. Although Burning Sands has a small city in it (bigger than what EJODs was mind you) its still not on the same urban warfare level as Muttrah.

Beirut, anyone?
I do have to say that Muttrah is a very good map. I usually enjoy it, and I find myself getting less and less bored with it lately.

My friends and I all dislike Muttrah, personally I think that some of the Urban areas can be a tad empty and lifeless.

Also G3, in CQB tends to lose 70% of the time, unless the bloke with the M16 is incompetent as hell.. I hurr'd when I saw that the Ger SL's "CQB" kit was a G3. Might aswell carry an unscoped marksman kit.

Doesn't make them a bad faction. Use logic, engage the other team at range where their weapons may or may not be more effective, whereas your G3 with its larger bullet is better at range rather than CQB.

Never said they were a bad faction.

And again, you're in an urban enviroment, it doesn't leave much room for out ranging the enemy.

ironsights G3 will almost always win in CQB. 2 well placed bullets, and the enemy is down. perfect for clearing buildings, or when you hide in one of the T buildings, just put a G3 to cover the stairs, and they will have a tough time flushing you out. the recoil is a little bit too much, but thats just me

anyway i like the map couse it has so much to offer. every asset is verry powerfull in the right hands, but for every threat you have a countermeasure. a good AAV7 squad can stack up to 50 kills easily, but a well placed HAT can criple them. when you get tired of infantry or armour, go fly hueys, or just grab a combat engi kit and mine the shit out of south city :)

and yeah, mortars, so fun on that map

I love Muttrah and Beruit because Urban AAS is awesome. I think what the PR community really wants is urban AAS maps. TBH I'm kinda disappointed that the .95 release had 2 maps that are 4km tank open ground rape fests (Iron eagle and Wanda Shan).

The current version is v2.0 (v1 was this: http://www.10th-community.com/event/muttrah.JPG) and a 4km version isn't really an option as 1, scale 4 terrain dosen't work very well with an urban environment, there is already enough terrain warping as it is and 2, outside the current area I've already mapped there isn't that much that's interesting, its mainly roads going out to Muscat with buildings around them which wouldn't really be able to get any good gameplay flow with it, not to mention spreading the players out more so than they already and the performance impact on having a bigger city. So it aint going to happen :p

He or anyone else would first need my permission to edit my map.

I like Muttrah once in a while, not a fan of the 24/7 set up of particular servers, I like being able to change environments and maps and do things differently.

I do think people mike Muttrah because it's very versatile and there are many different things a squad can do, and different locations to set up FOBs and the like all around the map. I personally enjoying getting in a sniper squad and picking people off as the come into the middle 2 flags. The roofs allow you to lay down and still have an easy shot to a large portion of the map, without being exposed to places you cannot see.
