What I really want is an Area where there is a feed of the event News.
Similar to the Dock in the current Menu where DEV Blogs are announced.
I want an RSS Feed on the Main area where you can be up to date on the latest events without alt+tabbing and going to the site. You could do alot from there
THAT would be cool.
Btw GREAT MENU IDEA
Also with the back minimap. You could do a UAV Feed. With PRBot you can get some great footage.
Let me know if you are interested in such. I know a community who's really interested in things of that nature.

We all know that PR has a pretty big learning curve. Even if you have been playing for a while you may not remember everything. And while the new manual is great, you don't need to know something until you are in-game forcing you to either alt+tab and open the pdf (sometimes needing to go back and forth even) or be lazy and try to remember to look up later. Well what if we actually have the manual in-game and accessible via the main menu?
Quick concept:
Thoughts and suggestions?
Simply genius !

Love it. Keep at it; your work looks phenomenal.

This. Interesting concept.

UAV feed? Sounds like the vanilla BF2 menu.

The Vanilla BF2 menu background video could only be considered a UAV feed if UAVs flew at about 20m altitude.

Wowww..
dead.pixel, Keep up the great work bro

also, welcome to the forums! ^^
I'm Really diggin' this UI and hopefully we see it implemented in the future
Looks slick and up to date, loving the features too!
Im pretty sure if you produce more stuff like this, your work and skills will be wanted in the mod in no time ;D haha

The only thing bothering me in the design right now is the white dot in the scrollbar. It's off centre and looks out of place in this design. It might look better when you replace it with a small square, the rest of it looks nice.

Loving it, looks terrific. When combined with some custom menu music it will really add a new immersion factor.
Is there any way that this can be a custom release, as in you can use it without getting kicked by PB etc. In the same manner that you can change the loading music/background .bik

So... is anything actually in-game, or are you just photoshopping around?

Its a Concept work... It means that he is just trowing ideas around and showing what would look like... Its one step before work in progress...
And yes, he's photoshoping around... actually he's flashing around...

Alrighty.
It looks good and all, but are you (OP) sure you can handle the dark ways of BF2's use of Flash?

You don't have to explain to me what "concept work" is, lol.

Thanks again guys.
I'd love to see what kind of UAV footage there is out there. But I am going to worry about the background movie after the menu is built out.
@DenvH - The circle is perfectly centered in the full-size image, I think the scalling down made it look off center. Though, I am not set on that scroll bar, so it could easily change.
@dtacs - Well, I have been messing around with the menu for stock BF2 with no PB issues yet.
@Raegron - Yeah this is all Photoshop right now. I am going to mock up every screen I can to make the development go as smooth as possible. In the meantime I have been reading up on the scarce resources the net has to offer on BF2 flash menus...
I will be honest, I am a designer not a developer. I dislike coding beyond the front-end web html/css/javascript (even that is pushing it). So the development is definitely going to be a challenge. But trust me, I want to see this realized as much as anyone.

If you need some help with the coding i can pull out the ol Flash and take a crack at it, I'm not that great, but I do pick things up pretty quick and could probably make it all work in the end.
What would really help with coding would be the raw flash files for the current PR menu

Talk to ancient. I'm sure he wouldn't mind. Since he likes this project

truely excellent idea! ease of use, perhaps some additional information in the weapons, kits and vehicles menus on handling, calibre, kits/maps in which they are playable etc. ? loads of work, but well worth the read for others
just a thought though, must say this brainstorming on the menu has great potential!

Alright, I cannot share the PR fla's, since they contain some code that if leaked, would be pretty bad. And for those thinking that you can just decompile the PR fla's, sure you can, but the code is pretty ninja, and doesn't show in the decompiled files

. So you will have to use the files that I put in that tutorial on the bf editor forums.
Anyway, so, I am also working on a new menu redesign, since there are some things in this menu that I don't like so much (I do like some things though

).
However... What I propose is this. We both make our own menus, once they are done, we put it to the devs (or maybe the community), and see which one they like the best. If the devs pick yours, we probably put you up to R-CON or something, then we work with your files to do some tweaks to include the stuff that you'll be missing (since you'll be working off bf2 files instead of pr's), and yours goes in. If the devs pick mine, mine goes in. In that case, I dunno, maybe you could ask around some other mod teams if they wish to have your menu, so your work doesn't go to waste.
So, what do you reckon about that dead.pixel?

All of it looks awesome pixel! This is a game UI worth paying for(PR2? Anyone?)

Why don't you work together using what's available to both of you, and then once a compromise is made, you can add in all of the features that PR has available? I don't see the point is making two separate designs of which only one will be chosen and implemented, when you could combine ideas to make a great one.
