Daniel Hindes (aka ThePhotoshop, the guy who wrote this) used to play PR reguarly. He has some great tactics videos @ The Project Reality Diaries

It has been mentioned before in the magazine but we didn't see a rise in the number of players though.

Was basically going to repeat this, I was pretty heavily involved in the PCPP online community and I've played a couple rounds of PR with ThePhotoshop before. Knowadays though I don't think he has the time to play the game and last I heard he was playing a lot of TF2 (Stark contrast aye :P )

I saw this issue last time I was in the newsagents but didn't end up buying it despite seeing the article. Ironically I went in today before reading this thread hoping it was still on sale but I found December's issue instead :(

I'm looking forward to the torrential influx of idiotic gamers who think they are playing CoD or MoH. The community still hasn't recovered from the "great influx of 19- 0.8"
when thousands of casual FPS players were thrown into the mix because of an advert message on vBF2 main menu, and it is getting worse with PR's increasing publicity.

Am I saying I only want a handful of people playing this game? Hell no. Am I saying that those who don't understand it should leave it alone until they do? Absolutely.

Before I touched this mod, I was already in exactly the right place to start with it, from playing games like Rainbow Six Rogue Spear and Ravenshield, Ghost Recon, Delta Force 1 and 2, SWAT 3, Farcry, Age of Empires, Total Annihilation, Forgotten hope 1, Battlegroup 42, and Desert Combat.

Most of the long time PR vets probably recognize or have played many of these games, because they all fit in with PR's ethos. Now however, the repertoire of most gamers starting PR is: CoD, Halo, Gears of War, Team Fortress 2, L4D, GTA etc.

More than anything, I encourage players wishing to, or starting PR to play other tactical FPSes or any other realistic war games, because you can't truly play PR well without an intimate understanding of infantry tactics, battlefield strategy, and unit coordination.

BTW, the article was really good, despite me being a cranky ***.

After reading this (as hard as it may seem to fathom) I have even more pride being part of this. This is the first time I've seen such a mention of PR. Keep up the good work.
