I can agree on that BTR case though. I was the driver and nobody wanted to be the gunner, so I was just sitting in base. There were other BTRs available.
Some squad begged me to taxi them to Jabal so I've done and got mined. I don't remember exactly but I recall being at very low tickets anyway. I doubt a gunner would change something there.
Besides, I've seen the good players doing bad/fun stuff too so maybe indeed it's not a server for me cause it has way too serious atmosphere. I'm still learning and there are things that I can't learn by reading manual or by playing with bots, such as ambushes, teamwork, common mining spots, good placements for buildings etc.
I remember your nick back from 0.6 or 0.7.

You NEED to read the manual and look up the forums for the details, to know everything relevant to the game. Take it step by step, start of as a grunt, then squadlead, then go armor and finally fly cas or go CO. There will be enough questions even after you read the manual, the community is unfriendly torwards players who do not read the manual, despite being stressed that you should really read it.

Thats strange, when you where on our server yesterday, you denied soloing the apc. You kept claiming you had a gunner.
You also denied spamming mumble.
Once a liar....

I still consider myself a noob after playing for almost a month now (in v0.95 - was last playing on v0.91) and yeah there are asshats out there, especially on those big servers that are almost always full.
Best way to get better is the Co-ops games, not even the training ones, go straight to the ones that have lots of people. These "co-op" servers are way noob-friendlier than the "deployments" servers and you learne a shit load just by looking at other players do their thing; with time you catch up and do the same.
Also, make sure that you always join a squad, ideally an infantry squad, and do whatever your squad leader ask you to do. That is exactly how I started, and now I'm almost able to lead a squad myself without fucking up too much; and that is after a month of playing so you see that there's a lot to learn.
At the end, key thing to remember is: don't try to be a hero and help out your squad in any way that your squad leader sees fit.

It depends on the people, some servers will ban you for not knowing how to drop your kit, and some are warm and fuzzy and will help you learn the game.
