Stop calling the map "Wanda Shit". Last warning, people.

IMO it was the worst of the new maps. sure you can get a quick 15 mins of fun , until your fobs are destroyed , CAS is down and trans is down and you find yourself walking or driving ridiculous distances.
don't change your mind devs , some things may seem a good idea at first but wanda shan just wasn't right.

Re: The "I am sad because Wanda Shan was deleted" thread
I wonder why haters have to be so loud to spoil game for others who value diversity and replayability in game. :/ Wanda Shan is up to PR standards, no one forces you to play it if you prefer deathmatch oriented PR, but by talking **** and by that forcing removal of map you take away chances to have fun on maps the other people enjoy. There are many servers that avoid 4km PR maps, so stick to them and leave others who enjoy the game in its full spectrum.
Dtacs - about lacks of roads and damaging terrain. I can't disagree with you more on that. When I go apc/tank I drive and command 95% of time. Yet I haven't found map so challenging to drive and plan attack as Wanda Shan (well maybe Yamalia as well
). It's nothing more enjoyable when you actually have to think and plan ahead instead of carelessly rushing to the enemy flag. The more I, as a driver have to overcome the more I find it enjoyable. Especially after successful plan and attack. Also it rewards players who play realistically and do not drive like idiots pressing W and rushing each hills to jump from some cliffs, score some kills, get wasted, respawn, grab another asset rush again... The map forces you to stay alive or you will spend some time trying to get back to the fight. Actually when I played Wanda as APC driver first time I hoped that this terrain fix will be implemented to all PR maps.

Re: The "I am sad because Wanda Shan was deleted" thread
It however completely unbalanced armour to whoevers base you were closer to. It is inevitable that you have to get in the forest in the tanks at some point to hide from CAS and other tanks and by the time you had made it near the front-lines your tank would have half dead already. It is a nice idea in theory to limit armours ability on the map so the infantry have a lot more freedom, but it just gimped armoured combat completely imo. I would have also liked to see a larger urban area.[R-MOD]BloodBane611 wrote:This has come up over and over, Outlawz pointed out that you're meant to keep vehicles on the roads. There is a reason the terrain is hard to drive over, simply doing whatever you want in complete disregard of reality doesn't mean there is something wrong with the map![]()
Apart from that I thought it was ok map.
I only however got to play 2 maybe 3 rounds without the server dying/rubberbanding though.
I think if anything It shows your mapping has certainly got to a high standard though Outlawz. I am sure your next map(s) will be much better

Re: The "I am sad because Wanda Shan was deleted" thread
I have played the map 3 times, I enjoyed the map every time I played it. Once in a TG scrim, two times as a dedicated APC driver (both times my gunner was Outlawz
)
It had some problems (majority of maps do), but it was enjoyable. Map requires working with others squads. You don't have a dedicated APC transport squad, you are pretty much doomed.
I've had LOADS of fun transporting peeps with the APC. Call me crazy, but I enjoy to drive in PR (except the trucks, I flip them constantly
).
I will miss it.

@ "running between 2 flags across the map" - its fixed in AAS4.
I played the map maybe 2 times or so, it was kinda funny. It felt a bit like this huge canadian vs russians map in sibiria, I liked it.
But well, if it's gonna be that way, we can still have great rounds on other maps.

Hey guys, I just got back from Kenya a couple of hours ago, left camp at around 10 yesterday and arrived home at 11 today.
It was only a month, but it has changed me profoundly; to see people living their lives to the full when they don't even have clean drinking water shamed me and has given me a new motivation to live my life to the full.
To that end, I am leaving the DEV team and will probably never play FPS games again (though I'm bugfixing burning sands for a week or two so get those bug reports in fast) ; instead putting that time and energy in to gaining a nursing degree and treating every day in as if it is my last.
But I wanted to thank the members here for their comraderie and fun, its the players that make PR the sucess it has been.

Re: The "I am sad because Wanda Shan was deleted" thread
I'm going to operate under the assumption that this blog post is not a gag for the following comments, though most hold true anyway:
Every time somebody releases destructive criticism of a man's hard work without offering either considerate feedback or a potential solution, I want to break things in half. Is it too much to ask for the level-headed, helpful map feedback to get more social attention around here than the folks who run their mouth like they're a damn crusader trying to get maps to adapt to them?
As with any map, technical problems aside, I have enjoyed Wanda Shan with a sane team. I also had the privilege of commanding the Russians on a TG Wanda Shan pick-em scrim, working with some very excellent squad leaders, and found the map to have impressive strategic and tactical depth. If you're not mindful of transport and logistics when executing, you're absolutely doing it wrong on this map, and when both teams have that level of consciousness when executing, it's a very fun experience. (DB and Portable were both squad leaders under my command during this round; you can ask them as well)
Outlawz, do not feel ashamed about your work. Your care for the map shows in its beauty and its gameplay potential. My only two comments for you: flag layouts are interesting at times (but this will presumably get fixed with AASv4), and the nap could use a minor increase in light to make careful maneuvers as infantry more important, and thus make thermals slightly less of a requirement in forest combat. Take or leave them as you will.
I myself am a composer, and I'm no stranger to getting my designs examined and deconstructed very closely and brutally, so I sympathize quite a bit with your situation. Just because some people are vocal with their dislike of a map doesn't mean it's a bad map. Keep your head high, distinguish the good criticism from the bad, and seize the opportunity to make a great design better!

Look at the wonderful thread I have helped create. A few constructive comments, people showing their sadness, with about 2-4 people complaining about the map.

Wand Shan was a good map but more will be to come and the future of PR and the future of PR maps is unlimited- everyone just has to be patient, not worth the fuss, ya know?

I played Wanda Shan last night on PRTA and I really enjoyed it. It's a beautiful map for people who are teamwork orientated and don't drive around like maniacs and the infantry combat in the forests are great. I think with a AASv4 and slight changes to assets in can be an awesome map.

Played WS today on the TG server. Wasn't very fun. My squad was competent, but we spent our time engaging Chinese at a range of 50 meters or less, at Hill 22, because there was so much foilage near the area that no one could see each other. My main complaint about the map is that everything is green, making either side hard to see.

I played the map a couple of times and reall enjoyed it once my server lag stopped after about a minute... I really enjoyed the forest warfare, and aside from a few noobs trying to launch an APC 50 feet in the air, on the whole, combat was good!
Like everyone else is saying, AASv4 and a few tweaks would make this map beastly.

Re: The "I am sad because Wanda Shan was deleted" thread
wut what... Wanda Shan being deleted?! If u wanna delete a 4km map delete Qinling, its old, very boring and is barely ever played.. Wanda Shan is actually good and AASv4 should make it great. People just have to use APCs as trans on it. Really cant understand why maps like Qinling and Jabal stay while other better maps are being deleted cuz people just love everything wide open and simple.
Im so sad.. 1st they stop the 128 testing and say we'll see it in atleast 2 months and now I find out that Wanda is being deleted (found out just now). :'(
Any chance Devz will change their mind about Wanda?

Re: The "I am sad because Wanda Shan was deleted" thread
I feel deleting the map is just too drastic a measure, considering the concept behind it looks pretty solid and it actually has potential.
While this might not be a good comparison, here's one thing I learned this year in arch school, something the assistants criticized in our approach at the beginning of projects: after we'd present our idea they'd point out the shortcomings (usually many), and most of us would become demoralized and completely change the idea. They said this is bad, that we shouldn't just give up on it, but try to persist, fixing the problems of course, because we would NEVER come up with something perfect in our first try. Point being, you don't make a whole lot of progress if you just start over when a bunch of guys start bitching.
Anyway, I wish you'd give it one more release, fixing bugs and stuff, before scrapping it. Or, even if it is removed from the map list, you don't completely give up on it, so it might make a return when you think it's ready.
