Precisely why you don't get a scope in-game, to keep the medic more focused on keeping himself and his squad alive than blasting away at the enemy. And sure you can return fire, quite often effectively and even at extreme ranges to suppress the enemy so the SM's with scopes have an easier time picking them off.

U.S. as well as MEC medics can get a red dot by right click requesting the kit, if they for some reason really want to.

ironsight feels the best. I mostly prefer scopes though.

how does the lack of a scope stop you from left clicking?

seeing as my favourite infantry kit is rifleman, i'll have a favour for the x4 optics. Allows shooting at range and with the new 3D scopes i feel comfortably at closer ranges. Anything in a building is hipfire.

I generally prefer red dots. I feel so handicapped in CQB with scoped guns, and since you often fight up close it just makes sense. There are some maps or roles where I choose scope, but it's kinda rare.
Some of the red dots are kinda annoying though, showing too much of the old front sight.
The G3 red dot is a beast. pew pew pew

I didnt know you could do that and thanks for telling me. But i think optics should come standard to the medic class. The only pro argument for no optics is to gimp them into only healing . I say why punish the player? Its also unrealistic to not issue them optics. This game doesnt attract the Call of Duty crowd that requires these punishing measures to get them to play correctly. I tend to think of the PR community as generally smarter and more team play orientated. If a medic isnt doing their job, kick them from the squad. They will learn how to use the class. And I know i would be far less reluctant to play medic and so would many friends if they could return fire as effectivly as their fellow squadmates with optics.

For most maps I have preferences for differnet kits

Grenadier - ironsight/eotech (its close, shoot it, its far, grenade it)
Officer - irongisht/etc (defend yourself, if its far away guide your squad on to it)

generally the rest of the time its scoped, unless its a claustrophobic map, but as long as the overall squad loadout is appropriate to the map and situation I dont mind which I take

I think he means that it is really pretty hard to aim with the M4 ironsight.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D
