Regarding my other question - what would be the best way for me to appeal to use the jungle static assets?
Can someone walk me through the steps or send me a PM. Do I need to show a particular level of completion on the WIP map forum ect ect.

We'll get back to you about the jungle overgrowth. We found some minor issues and we want to fix them before we release it. Can't give you an ETA at this point.

While I wait and see if I can get my editor running, I wanted to ask for some help on a map concept. My main idea is based around A Shau valley, which according to
this was a stratigetic focal point of the war. I more specificly wanted to make a map in which one or two Fire Support Base (FSB) are flags or a main.
FSB Berchtesgadan,
FSB Eagles Nest, and
FSB Rendezvous were the main ones I was looking at. Here is a picture from
FSB Rendezvou, picture of
Berchtesgadan and Eagles Nest together, topigraphical
map of the area,
mapof FSBs in the area, satilite
photo, and another possible point of intrest, the
airstrip. What I need is more pictures of FSBs if anyone could help. what would also help would be some more sudgestions about it before I start to map it after (and if) my editor works. Thanks for the help!

Well, here is a more detailed concept of "A Shau Valley" (4km).
Blue Circles= possible Blufor main base/last flag
Green Circles= Possible Opfor Main base/last flag
Yellow Circles=possible flags (FSBs, hill tops [fortified/not], villages, strongholds, LZs?)
Shaded areas=Possible AASv4 attack routes
^ Blue=N-E zone
^ Grey=Central zone
^ Yellow=W-S zone
The highest points of this map are going to be very high as like the real mountans in the A Shau Valley. Map is Approximetly 2:1 to 4:1 scale with most all of the mountans covered with thick jungle, except with the lowlands around the rivers being mostly baren and small patches of light jungle in the mountans.
What do you guys think? Like? Hate? To hard for a beginer?
Edit: Still need reference pics of fortifications and FSB's from vietnam, both NVA and US.
Please.

Gozjh, tbh I can't make out your plan very well or what you really want to do as you've put too much **** on the map
First can you post a clean map and secondly, can you remove most of the unnecessary stuff off there and explain each point of interest in detail, a yellow circle doesn't really tell me what each place is and also showing possible movement to each point (but possibly in a separate image so you don't clutter up the image more.
Also if you can state what kind of assets you want to see on this map, jets, choppers, tanks? Don't go into exact details on what each side will have just general overview is all that's needed.

How large part of the map do you want to have covered with thick jungle, Gozjh? As for a 4 km map, covering it all in thick jungle might be a problem. We will see how Jungle Fire handles this.

Alright...uber decoding skills to the rescue.
Yellow circles are supposed to be cap points in which people are supposed to fight over firebases, outposts, villages and what not (as he explained in the post)
Now the picture includes different colored shades (a sloppy and very confusing presentation). Each color is supposed to represent a part of the map that is going to be used as a possible attack route for AAS4. Basically circles in the blue shade are 1 attack route, circles in the yellow shade are a 2nd route and circles in the "gray" shade are a 3rd route. Each shade is bordered with a thick line that has arrows pointing towards the area (for example Blue line is representing the border of the blue area and the blue arrows on the border are supposed to avoid confusion for areas where the shades overlap)
And now I just realized that I have spent 10 minutes writing this and that I should fix my gaming PC asap to avoid "lifeless" situations like this

Indeed, I got that bit other than the AAS4 routs, was an odd way of showing it but my main areas of concern was what each "flag" is which a random yellow circle doesn't really explain

Well if you look hard at the map you will notice some stuff inside some of the circles (like a black dot with a text saying "Possible Firebase" or the name of a village right next to a circle) but yeah the circles appear to be mostly randomly positioned...prolly going to be allot of "on the fly" thinking

Here are some maps:
Flags with names\slight description
More descriptions needed or is this enough? If more is needed it may start looking like a picture novel.
I did not post my ideas on assets because I thought we were not supposed to do that but I was thinking of this map mostly around INF. The Blufor would have CAS hueys (not a lot, just enough to help clear our tough spots), A few APCs, plenty of Transport trucks, a tank or two, and transport hueys. Opfor would get plenty of armed river boats, transport trucks, and some heavy asset (perhaps tanks, pending of faction).
And BTW, if any of you could help me with my editor problem while we iron out the rest of the ideas of the concept, it would be appreciated. Please take a look at this
thread.

Question: What happened to the maps from EOD? Are they going to be included in PR:V? If you need a guy to audit/edit the maps I can help out but I don't have the time to make a map from scratch.

Maybe, we're not too sure yet. They're not all up to PR quality and/or are very small. If you can find a good looking map, and you think it's large enough (or you can make it large enough, by expanding the combatarea), you're free to audit it according to PR standards.
If you wish to audit a map, go ahead and do it

. Create a new thread for it here in the PR:V forums, in which you state what map you're going to audit, etc, etc. Probably a good idea to provide some screenshots of the map, so everybody knows what it looks like, etc.
Thanks, and good luck

.
Edit: best developed factions at this point are USA, VC and NVA. But it's possible to audit for other factions as well, if you really want (think about French, ARVN, Aussies, etc.).

I haven't played EOD at all so I need to download the mod and check what map would be good. I saw a video for EOD where I saw something that looked like a decent map. I'll check it out.
Edit: Wasn't there a turorial on how to make a map bigger (not just the combat zone) here somewhere?? Or is it just me?

I looked through the EOD2 maps recently myself and was unfortunately disappointed. I hoped that there might be a map suitable for PR:V but they were either tiny or IMO below PR-standard.
I think making a new map for PR:V would be much more worthwhile than trying to improve an EOD2 one.
Tomking wrote:NVA would have an uncappable main base to reinforce the hillside with light transport vehicles.
Ground vehicles in Ia Drang Valley? My understanding from multiple documentaries is that the NVA had to carry all their supplies up steep trails and the only way the US Army could get up there was by helicopter.
You could just have a 'main' close enough nearby to walk from that can't be taken.
That said I would love a proper Ia Drang Valley map and I hope you finish one, the BFV and EOD versions were very lacking.

Yeah, those are my thoughts as well, but it's been a while, perhaps I missed something. There could be one or two in there that may be used, but I don't know...
