You could make them spawn like the truck once docks is capped.
But I personally dont like the idea that they are popping out of nowhere.

Imagine other maps like Yamalia, it takes a few mins to get into action too.
I think the reason is more likely that there is no need to use them as transport as there are enough choppers.
Finally I havent the feeling that they are so underused at all.

Is the AAVP .50 cal proof ?

If I was to do this which btw I have considered in the past, it would mean that the APCs would need a longer spawn time at the docks as part of the balance of the US AAVP7A1s is that they do take quite a bit of time to swim up to the shore.
Also it would be very easy for the MEC to spawn camp the LAVs spawning at the docks. I can just see it now with someone on the MEC grabbing an AT kit and sitting up in the mountains around docks with it, just waiting for the LAVs to spawn as to take them out before they are even manned, not good at all.

Indeed it takes a lot out of the immersion with things just spawning randomly when you can have them swimming up from the shore line, also giving them more options to land in different locations.

The reason the AAV fails quite a lot is because people find it difficult to aim the 40mm. Where as the LAV is just get your target, aim and shoot, the AAV is aquire target, get range aim, shoot and having to adjust range every time you change target can be a ball ache
And yet they manage in RL and have done since the thing was put to service, its like saying "oh were not gonna use snipers any more because you have to adjust every time the wind changes" or something else as daft as that
Muttrah style map in PR:A2 would be epic, at least the AAVP7's would be carrying a platoon or a couple of squads as they swim to shore.

I dont understand why the devs removed the lavs from the marine maps. The devs said that they are used for Recon and only hold a small amount of marines. they are used for recon but they hold 6 marines in the back which is what we had so i don't see the problem. The second reason is people say the lav isn't used in urban combat. The lav was the only armored vehicle that the marines had during the Battle of Najaf (2004)

One reason would be that it's a really terrible EA model. Hopefully Tim270 will fix that

I thought the bf2 model had missiles on it and the PR lav was from US Intervention or something.

No. The MTLB .50 can destroy the AAV from the back with ease if it stays close so the 40mm rounds can't arm or the turret can't depress enough.

Well some days ago me and my fellow buddy had a "duel" with a AAVP, us being at main road MEC enterance and they being across water by the hangar building, and we shot each other for ages, his granades missed 99% of time and our 50 cal hit most of the time and still the thing didnt go down
A little silly

The reason why the AAVP7 sucks compared to the LAV is because in this game is has no bullet drop.

The co-op version of Muttrah is quite interesting, with the MEC having BMPs, an EC635 and a T72, and the US having LAV-25s, AAVPs, Cobra, CROW Humvee and TOW Humvee. Speaking of which, why is the TOW Humvee only present in co-op?

Because having a moveable one shot kill weapons platform is crazy when going up against any of the MEC's assets. It can zone off the entire water area and boulevard and even move with ease to outside the MEC main, waiting for them to come out.
Rhino has already perfected the fragile Muttrah asset GPO to its limit, any further unnecessary tampering is a bad idea.

CBA to read the whole thread but.. LAV all the way, imo its the best US APC in PR. All others have big flaws and not enough advantages to compensate. AAVP is just a huge clumsy.. thing with un-reliable weapons for APC vs APC pewpew.
Imo on maps like Jabal and Muttrah AAVP turned out to be a "nerf" for US, LAV performs almost as good vs inf while being much better vs other APCs.

Well Rhino, in the =HOG= Muttrah 24/7 server, since all we play is Muttrah we had made it a rule that you cant attack or shoot into USMC repair until DOCKS is fully capped. So considering the fact that although other servers do rotate to Muttrah and we play there ALL DAY LONG its not going to be an issue to have the LAV's spawn there at all. And if they were getting destroyed as in other servers the "LAV SQUAD" would probally get to figure out who is hat sniping their LAV. Either way its worth having it back.
Rhino what do you think about dropping in a AT MTLB? and respawnable MEC jeep?

What you means - jeeps.UAZ?It's probably uses for road killing on this map.AT-MTLB - not good idea too.
1)damaging by rifle rounds
2)Got Wire-guided system = can't shoot from move.
BMP-2 is not good idea too - 2x faster firerate thats 30mmMTLB + 4 Laser guided missiles.
LAV - 25 got same armor thats BTR-60 AFAIK,but biggest cannon caliber.
Also - when I can see 64vs64 fightings - would be awesome to see some LAVs spawnable on the docks.

Actually, the Shturm MTLB in-game uses radio-guided missiles, and in fact CAN fire on the move. Sadly, I have fallen victim to the belief that it didn't and then had one suddenly turn and fire its missile at me on the move.

Russian ATGMs ftw
But adding it w/o any HE missiles is pointless. Look at Kozelsk 64, u get a BMP-3 and a Shturm-S among other things, and the only purpose Shturm has is killing BRDMs and trucks, something that another BRDM/APC can do just as good while NOT costing 10 tickets like a damn tank. >.<

I like ATGM carriers, I wish there were more of them running around (the only two I believe are in-game currently are the Shturm and the Spandrel). I just don't think having them running around Muttrah is a good idea.
