Alas, all the above advice will get any player kicked from a Mumble only server. If you don't log into Mumble or respond to somebody on Mumble on a Mumble only server. The rules state that a kick will be coming. So telling me or any player for that matter to just Mute and go on your way is very silly indeed.
for the love of christ, just mute for a minute until the offending noise is gone

I do it all the time, its only 60-120 seconds while not completely contactable on mumble
And the answer is. Nobody knows
actually some of us do know, but its not my place to give out details, its the author's perogative when its time for the features to be revealed

That 60-120 seconds can get you kicked. (your own R=Dev tag is a shield against such things)

Well I hope my (and other silent none forum users) concerns will be addressed.

I don't wear tags ingame, and many other non-DEV tagged players do what I have advised because its common sense imo.

I have never asked for, nor received preferential treatment from an admin, and I'd be insulted if I did.

Oh don't kid yourself here. We all know that Dev's get the love (and rightly so in most cases). It' can't be helped. 8)

But lets move on shall we. I Await a news post something in the near future about what is in store for the next version Of Mumble.

Thats your opinion, an opinion which many would disagree with.

If all the advice your getting will get you kicked from the server, then why have the people who are giving you the advice not been kicked themselfs ? i play on mumble servers only and rarely see people kicked for muting them self.

Fact is your asking about unreleased content, which as we know probably wont get answered. For now deal with it, bring it to light and assume its been addressed.

You have been blind to it. I Have seen it. And been kicked for it. On the few times I have played on Mumble only servers. I Have seen it with varying degrees of regularity. There is also the "We know that player" factor. How ever you try to hide it. Most Mumble only server have a rule that states they will kick you if you don't use Mumble. Failing to respond to an Admin in Mumble will get you kicked. So the above said advice is bad as it can get a player kicked. If that is the rules of a server. Muting yourself leaves you open to kicks.

which is why you don't stay muted for a prolonged length of time...

the admins know the limitations of mumble as much as anyone and understand

alternatively just decrease mumble volume with hotkeys to cope for now

oddz stop being completly impossible :P

The current mumble has as many limitations as the bf2 engine. But it is what we have, and it does wonders in my oppinion. And complaining about admins and to much sound, is like complaining about how we cant do the hardcoded stuff in PR. Its just the way it is. Deal with it.

When i get a problem, i try to find solutions, not tell everyone how **** the problem is. Its called being proactive, and i do it alot when i play PR too.

Im excited about the future of pr mumble, i was just hoping to find out what the goals are from the developers point of view, but like Rudd said they aren't willing to talk.

actually i'd love to find the actual goals of the PR mumble project and see where it is heading. tbh you can't go wrong with wishing it's just producing the wish that is hard

i read the whole thread regrettably and have come to the same conclusion as yujie900 on oddz "Don't know if trolling, or being a **********.....", i did though find what rudd said interesting and made a deafen shortcut (my num "0" key) and it was nice not hearing all that **** between rounds...but when i tried to un-deafen my self it left me mute...so i had to make a shortcut key for muting and un-muting my self so i made it the num "." key. now i can say that mumble with those 2 new shortcut keys for me is not so much of a pain in the *** with all the "in-between round spam" now....thanks rudd, so u helped me trying to help oddz.....thx

For starters I am of the opinion that PR is not for public play. Its best enjoyed on a server where you have a regular crowd you cooperate well with, as most team sports.

If players spam mumble, Admins will have to enable their pimp hand, just like they do with people spamming global chat.

However id like to see 2 things. No force center when unlinked, when you are unlinked positional audio gets killed. Hit force center if you need people to hear you between rounds or when you are unlinked. That should fix the unlink problems for pilots. The only drawback is that people will have to remember to use force center for in between rounds chat.
Rudd;1623351']why is no1 setting up a mute hotkey lol
Its a bit more complicated. You need actually 2 Keybinds. Set one for deafen self (it will deafen and mute you) and one for mute self (After you deafned and muted yourself it will unmute and undeafen you, or just mute you if you did not deafen yourself prior). I set mine to CTRL+T to deafen myself (which will mute me also) and to CTRL+G to mute self (Which will undeafen and unmute me after I hit ALT+T).

If you only set up a keybind to deafen yourself, it will mute you as well, but hitting it again will only undeafen you, but not unmute you. I can see how people who struggled to install mumble to begin with were unable to set up a hotkey for deafen self.

Developers tend to not rage in the mods they have created for obvious reasons. They might let it all out on L4D or something though :p

Well I hope the integration of Mumble will eliminate the need to ask people which team number I'm suppose to be in. I have to ask several times to get a correct answer sometimes. I too didn't realize I was suppose to run it as an administrator to get it working properly when I first started using it. There's was nothing in the instruction stating so and the instruction on using mumble is not clear cut for newbie of the program. I only found out because I ask about this problem during game play and got an answer for it.

Lastly, the one thing people don't often cite as an issue is that the names used in mumble don't often match the names in the game. I don't know why people just spell it exactly the way it is in PR? It's hard to figure out whom I'm taking to during the game sometimes.

^best thing to do is check who the SLs are on your team remember 2 or 3, then find them in mumble

Asking over Mumble which team you are in is one of the worst things you can do. It creates spam and pisses of people. Why not simply opening your scoreboard, remember a few names (prefferabley SLs) tab out, check one of the teams SL channels AND BOOM PROFIT! Not that hard, is it?

Well I disagree with the post completely. Mumble is way more better than VoiP for example in intense fight, you don't really have the time to type for the rest of the squads about enemy locations and it helps CAS ALOT not have to type in midair, it must be a real pain in the *** when flying a jet and having to type. And the 3D sounds just add more and more realism

Not to forget the better latency. Especially when crewing a vehicle the delay on VOIP can sometimes mean death, apart from disturbing everyone else in the squad with your constant chatter.

Exactly, no point listening to people that are on the otherside of the map in an armor squad for example
