I was a total newbie to it and I have a full time job... total time (not including holidays and big RL life issues) was probably 1.5-2 months, including learning each step & implementing it.
Haha, coincedentally that was the first shed my eye fell on. However, I was allready browsing this thread (and others) and noticed that you allready made it :) It was fun and also sort of a good learning progress to see you create your shed :)

Thanks for the heads-up!

Edit-
I'm currently trying to create this one.

It's going pretty good so far. I'm following Rhino's tutorial on how to make static objects, which works great for this one. Though sometimes I mess something up and need to re-do the whole thing again (what I was working on at least). Which is time consuming :/ .. I also go to school 4 days of the week and have work on friday and saturdays. But somehow I always manage to get some free time on my hand, so it might take me as long as you :P

You guys might want to edit the OP to state which items are already being worked on :p

PS. Don't model with Max 2010 because, as I'm pretty sure my tut says, the BF2 tools only work with 3DsMax9 (not 2009, v9) and back porting brings in loads of problems.

Hey, I'm just reporting in that creating that static model is going to have to go on a waiting list. I'm currently very busy with school and need to focus on that completely (got a few important tests/exams coming my way in about a month). And all the free time I do get I'm going to have to put in a other project I'm working on. So sorry!

Z-trooper wrote:FAQ:

What Version of 3DsMax should I be working with and what file formats?:

Everyone in PR works with Autodesk 3D Studio Max v9 aka 3DsMax9 (version 9, not 2009, not 2010. Version 9)

Working in later versions of 3DsMax like 2009 or 2010 etc is not an option since you can not export objects from 3DsMax to BF2 in anything later than 3DsMax9 and you can not easily back port models from a later version back to Max9 without serous loss of quality and many errors appearing in the model!!!

All scenes should be saved in a .max file format with 3DsMax9 with all necessary files for the next task in hand, including references and other things like that of your object etc with your max scene is always handy.
Will add it to the tut so no one else makes the same mistake.

*snip*
Coincidentally I have been working on a static! It's not very far yet + since I'm not used working with max9 (imo 2012 is way better :P , 9 seems to have a lot of bugs on my end :P .. or maybe its just my noob modelling) progress is slow.

Here are some pictures:

Allready had to re-do the whole thing once + this isnt the latest version btw. :P

You can't post a reply that is less than 7 characters long.

This is my current progress.. I think I don't need to mention it's still WIP? ;D + It's totally not optimized, so don't mind the tri-count! (btw. making those windows takes up a **** load of tri's.. damn :p )

I took a break but have a little bit of free time lately... would like to get back into modeling.

Do you still need a bridge, church or those railway cars?

I would like go ahead and say "someone model me a freaking vertical lift for a drawbridge!", but that might be an insane work. So far all my attempts at portraying one in my map with existing statics have been sort of a let down.

Suggestions?

post some refs of it here, hope someone gives it a go.

OR

learn modelling yourself :D in longterm much much better

I will ; ) Just not sure if I will be able to model such a complex thing before I finish my map. As of lately I've been trying to retexture a few things to get a grip of Photoshop. Trying to develop skills on all levels so that I can be "independent". It will take time though.
