That you're most probably being a noob in your respawn time?

Usually I tell my squad from which direction I was shot, tell the medic where I was killed, is it safe to revive without deploying smoke. If I've done that and I still have time I take a piss, go to kitchen to grab a beer and get something to eat.

Look at the map or check Facebook on my iPod.

It seems some you have some nice ideas about what to do. For me I'm too involved in whats happening as I lay in a pool you myself to do much else. The only thing I might do is make a lame joke about the medic stabbing me in the eye with a needle and nothing happening. Loading screens however are a prime time to read if I have a new book.

Since I'm squadleading most of the time, I actually figure out alternate ways of approaching the objective, keep track of my squad casualties, find out which fobs are going to be spawnable.

If you are gonna get any better at the game, when you're waiting for the spawn timer observe the map and see your teams movements, find out where you squad leader wants you to spawn.

You can gain alot of intelligence and make smart decisions by doing so.

Try it sometime.
