They are just placed to high by a mapper, there is nothing else behind it.
Depending on your viewing angle of the editor its just hard to spot.
And the testing team usually doesn't catch them as well cause there are too many caches per map to go through.

That cacke in particular was in a building that was moved iirc
Though afaik, that one was fixed a while ago but hasn't had an opportunity to be included in to the public build yet

Yes, making it intercept target instead following its tail - most important. Editing IFF to make proper sounds (different for unknown and friendly aircraft) instead of sound of 'tracking'. Others I wont list because that would be 'suggestions'.
Anyway this game has probably most detailed made MANPADS afaik. Adding what I said would probably be more for aesthetic reasons. Whoever worked on the models - very nicely done!

That's all hard-coded and impossible, unless someone comes up with some sort of rather complex workaround (which I highly doubt will ever be found).

I personally think 95% of things that are known as hardcoded actually can be done in some other way so it looks like it. If you think a bit outside of box I bet you can make almost anything for this mod
I'm not mod expert, but for example I would try with dynamic heat sources. 3/4 of path heat source is infront of aircraft, last 1/4 of path the heat source relocates to the aircraft. Similar how laze moves itself when it's placed from far down right to where you placed it. Just an example

But seriously the purpose of a GPMG is to be a weapon that can be carried and fired from any stance, as well as being able to be mounted on a tripod, vehicles etc.

That was worrying me, that one of you fell down the stairs or something. Its not a HMG, it chould be carried and fired like an LMG, and sice there is the deployed/undeployed vstance, there is absolutely no need to make it prone only, on top of that it would be utterly retarded and unuseful.
