The updated rules look ok. While I understand the "behind closed doors" admin approach to dealing with problems and the no "public shaming" aspect, IMO, this exact things leads to suspicion and frustration that I see in a lot of these posts from good solid players. I don't agree with either of the above but clear communication that a specific issue is being taken care of would be nice as well as something that is visibly tangible to back up the "we are taking care of it" statement. If there is nothing visibly tangible that people can provide reference too, IMO, it opens the door for inaction and corruption (good ole boy system).
Alright, some admins will let others know that the admin has acknowledged, some won't. And it could even lengthen the process of handling certain situations.
RAWSwampFox wrote: FCV admin'ing reminds me of the parent that tells their kid, now on the count of three I am going to ...... 1, 2, 2.25, 2.5, 2.75, 3 ..... wham.... The kids know when the button is about to launch the consequence and will ride it right down to the last millisecond causing hurt feelings and family disruption which is often displayed between parents as well as siblings. These feelings don't easily go away with a "I'm sorry" but rather with something that is visibly tangible and heartfelt.
The rules we have been instructed by the new policies in the 121 update reflect hugely among all of the staff, so we have been putting tight leeches on them all and have been pulling a lot of admins recently due to small misconduct that is enough to get their powers revoked due to the sensitivity of how our admin staff policies have been laid out.
RAWSwampFox wrote: After reading the rules, I thought I might give FCV a second chance but then read some of the posts above and realized that the rules, while well thought out with good intention, still isn't being publicly communicated in game. Text across the screen isn't always read in the heat of gaming granted, but the beep and text that follows a warning has a higher reading and comprehension percentage. Why are these not used as often?
Psychologically and statistically we have found out that a player automatically assumes they're going to be punished so therefore they pay the admin in a heavy "f*** you, too" mindset ultimately resulting in the repetition of their behavior. It's like dealing with cops; they might put you in handcuffs although you aren't guilty of anything but in the end you're still pretty pissed. We use the warn command a lot more now, but as seen on other servers it's what we expect as said above.
RAWSwampFox wrote: Will my continued boycott affect the server, probably not. I do miss playing on it and am saddened by the constant inaction or overreaction from admins. Political campaign promises are hollow unless filled with visible tangible results.

That's very faint and almost an indirectly insulting comment as put through by some recent posters on this thread. And how do you know about the admins recently if you haven't played here in a month? .. two? A lot has changed. And keep in mind your beef with one of our admins doesn't surprise me that you write such a distant and indirect post like how you have set it up to be.

Overall, you are a fun player to have on the server, a lot of people like you (there's a few that don't). It's a shame you don't play on here but it all falls back on you guilt-wise due to your fabrication of a misinterpreted situation that happened on the server that was justified both in a PM and discipline wise.

Thanks, however.

feedback on scenario Sunday:

first map was Gaza hostage rescue

it was fun and firefight was hectic but it would of been nice to do it without fobs... on both sides. we could never end up getting closer than 1 block from the hostage building but i didnt get to finish as i ctd'd.

next was just CnC on kashan.....and was just really boring so i alt-f4'd in order to go play arma3.

suggestion:

i would someday like to see an AAS map and maybe even an insurgency map played without the use of fobs and rallies. dont know if it will work for insurgency...certain rules would have to be enforced like no blufor camping mains and in between caches blufor sets up superfob and random patrolling to find contacts and to be attacked. also mortars might have to be off limits. it could be fun maybe.

anyways....i hope the future scenario Sundays are better

Was nice to play an infantry layer on saaramea last night, as a inf only guy I really appreciated no APC's or CAS helix ruining my day, all of my squad seemed to enjoy it too. Someone even did an aircav automobile reinforcement group.

Well done running something a bit different.

Hello PLODDITHANLEY,

The admins of FCV like to run Infantry Layers of maps that are usually not played once in a while for a nice change. We will even start playing some CnC in the near future so stick around for that.

Thanks for your feedback!

Doesn't have to mean that "only infantry"-players shouldn't learn how to use a MANPAD or LAT/HAT or laze targets for CAS... ;) (learn to work together with asset-squads if you are inf-only player!)

Good Afternoon,

Brennen we will never see eye to eye on admins or this issue. I only post here to provide feedback as this is a neutral place to provide it within the structure of the PR community.

I stated in my post that I was reconsidering and had read the previous posts in this thread back to my post earlier this summer. I based my post upon what I had read and what I had experienced.

Lastly, I don't have a beef with one admin as there were three admins in the squad of the offending player in the non-fabricated interpretation of the visual and audible actions during and after the round as witnessed by many of the incident you are referring to.

My opinion of most server admins (including but not limited to your server admins specifically) is that they are the kid in school that is a loner due to all the pain at home and bullying at school who only lives their concept of what life should be, based upon the very biased view they experience everyday, in their online gameplay or fantasy. Or, the employee that works for a mean boss and becomes that mean boss online taking out their work frustrations on everyone within their online community.

Just wondering, how does FCV have such low ping, and not other servers? Just saying because if other servers in America had lower ping like FCV they would be playable. :)

Because they did the Australasian and Asian players a huge service by establishing the server on the west coast of America, despite the higher(?) hosting costs. It means that Australians, Americans and Europeans can all play at reasonable pings with each other. :)

It's higher, isn't a problem as long as everyone enjoys it.

Was playing last night on some SUKKKKNAMMMM map and it was great. Nothing like a bit of surfin bird or that theme from apocalypse now playing on local lol.
My ping sits at 210ms due to my shitty ISP routing traffic via dirty Congent transit. I would be getting 158ms if I paid for a better ISP and the FCV-LA server peered with Equinix or Any2IX. :D

I tried to play tonight in both of the FCV servers and they crashed every 10 minutes. Unplayable in their current state. Any ideas on what's causing the crashes?

It isn't a typical day for us, sorry for the inconvenience, I've contacted authorities and this is being dealt with.

My suggestion would be to go play on HOG until this settles down, I fell asleep watching the packet loss monitor while trying to also do homework at the same time, so my day hasn't been the easiest among all.

'atom9[CH wrote:;2030077']!!!BREAKING NEWS!!!

FREE CANDY VAN BANNED ALL EASTERN EUROPE IP'S

ANSWER FROM A ADMIN TOADAY AFTER DISCONNECT

WHAT A RACISM !!!

(EVEN SWITZERLAND WHO IS NOT A PART FROM EASTERN EUROPE GOT BANNED)

We zone banned about 40 regions of Europe from LA today because we were hit by a DDoS and refusing their connection for 24 hours is what's keeping the server on its feet.

If you want to downvote the server, pull the "racist card", and spam the thread, including my forums now you're banned.

You sure are trying hard to get hated. How about you try the civil approach and just ask why you've been banned instead of doing that stupid shit. I think the persons in your little ciycle destroy PR more than they ever do by building a big american community.
