hohohoho, there were 42 today in the brazilian server, but the pic shows 40.

The gameplay level was taken to the max. Squads working together, APC and chopers working with the infantry better than ever before.

I think that today was just a tease what is going to come with the PR+Mumble.

You can probably remove Australians. Our Mumble usage rates are dropping at an alarming rate.

It's just the same old people now, we aren't gaining many new users any more.

Everyone says the same thing, "it's too spammy". Sigh.

They might retry it once the PR version is integrated.

People who call it spammy probably don't realise they can actually bind mute/deafen functions for when they don't want to listen to others.

What's not to like about high-quality positional voip between squads?

Forcing center position noobs and "hello, what server are you in?" :?

From what I can ascertain, it's the between round chatter that is most frustrating to people. Mainly because, most users of Mumble, are also using a TS/Vent and everything is competing. I've hard some say that just in-game VOIP and Mumble is too confusing.

You explain the mute/deafen, you explain how it works (ie. BF2 link is activated once in-game and positional takes over), but if it has been labelled 'Spammy' then that is what it stays. I even joined a clan, jumped on Mumble once BigD was made aware that PR were hosting a server, made long posts about its effectiveness and not one single person from that clan uses it. Needless to say, I am no longer in that clan (I had one supporter in-clan and they even ended up hosting their own Murmur for clan matches but it didn't get used).

TS is incumbent, it's hard to knock it off its post even when there is a far superior alternative. Microsoft/Mac/Linux argument has similarities.

Annoying/uneducated people are everywhere, it's not mumble's fault.

You have the option to mute certain people or mute everyone at once if it bothers you.

On Australian servers a lot of people are having trouble setting it up and everything, it's too much work for us. So we'll wait until PR Mumble release and let it do all the work for us.

Really?

What part do you find hard? We have a comprehensive thread stickied at BigD, I even posted a step-by-step with pictures for every needed page (I plagiarised Ancientman's post and added screenshots - BigD Gaming Community - View Single Post - Mumble for PR )

And what if, for whatever reason, the PR integration wasn't as integrated as you would hope? Would you give up on that too?

i do so, just mute everybody, when channel gets totally spammed

i have no problems with uneducated guys, actually i helped some of them, but when they come to channel with ~20 and more players and start asking for "hey, how can i set this up, gimme step-by-step guide" its a little bit stupid, isn't it?

mumble needs some minimal discipline from players(i.e. if smbd, who is not ingame asking something and you cant resist answering him, do it with push-to-talk, not FCP ffs, he will hear you(cause he is not ingame) and you wont irritate whole server) and all gonna be fine, even w/o "PR edition" mumble

sorry fot messed up post, but i hope you got my point

Mumble is so nice :D

I have a small request.

That you enable Overlay like this:

Enable Overlay

Show Only talking
Always show self
Show user Textures (Dont know what this is, but i got it enabled)

That way, you can see the names of who your talking, makes sorting out whos saying what, when there is a bit of a stop in the squad, and everyone is waiting etc. I cant always make out the voices, escpecially if their new.

I tried Mumble the other day.. All the servers that had a fair amount of people in were full or had a cripplingly high ping for me. The others no one talked...

._.

Of course, I was always scared to transmit! D:

i know what you mean, just gotta be patient and hope for a spot, also on some servers 10th for example if you're on their mumble server and ask they'll make room for you.

UKWF have embraced mumble, and thats is great to see, but they certainly need to get on with setting firm rules on its use in the same manner as their firm admining of their PR server. (but afaik this is because their admins haven't been setup yet)

e.g.

Those who talk from out of game must be silenced ASAP by whatever means necessary. (Everyone shouting down PTT works well for this, go ahead chaps and let these silly people know that their out of game voice is not welcome)

Those who use FCP in the NON-SL channels should be removed or muted until the point (if it ever comes) that FCP is disabled in the non-SL channels.

I encourage all server admins to show no mercy regarding these people. When one of these people speaks they are disturbing 64 people max because they are too lazy to check what map is running on the server list, or too moronic to read the channel name to see what server the channel is regarding.
