The boats models are from BF2 Battleship mod :)

The ambient explosions are still here, since they are shells fired from the germans, like 88s behind the frontline artying the water trying to hit boats.
Is there any thoughts about implementing something similar into regular PR using a destroyer or something. Would be interesting on something like Pavlosk Bay to have the USMC with offshore idf options to help the initial landings. Just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks
That's up to PR Devs, also PR would need modern battleships models..

Following this line of reasoning, it would be possible to create a higgs boat (LCVP) that transport crates to the beach? These could be used by the allies to FOB on the beach before continuing the advance to the next flags even mortars.

This LCVP could approach the ship and the gunner would have to descend to reload your ammo box and return to the ship cannon .. So time to get reloads believe more spaced instead of having a fixed crate on the deck of the ship. What do you think?

You're saying two things, right?

1) A "supply lcv" that can carry crates to the beach?
2) Turret gunner reloading ammo from this supply lcv?

I kinda like the supply lcvp idea, although I like the current way where you have to take dog beach and the supply ship spawns, giving the allies their vehicles.

I'm thinking of redoing that a bit though (the supply ship), but have to think about it.

Yeah the supply ship is kindda bad. Vehicles should spawn on the beach instead (wich would be better to be honest). Once the US cap FOX vehicles should spawn on the beach (near FOX) with supplies and maybe a small DoD would spawn too, to avoid the germans to spawn rape the new US "main". Anyway in real life there would be hundreds of US soldiers around that place unloading from ships.

The Germans would rape the US if their main base spawned on the beach (you may have captured Dog, but there's a lot of other flags there), that's why I introduced the supply ship. And you can't "spawn" a DoD, it's there from the start.

I'll figure something out, don't worry.

:-P

1) Yes!

Remember the first moments of the invasion, after taking the beach by the allies, in addition to all soldiers were carrying supplies that arrived in LCVP (Higgins boat) and DUKW.

2) Yes!

In this case, I figured three points:

2.1 The players instead of giving direct spawn in the LCVP would spawn the ship, as happened during the invasion, they descend the stairs to the LCVP would join them for the attack on the beach, supported by artillery.

2.2 Having a LCVP with crates actually have to take a squad "Arty" (gunner plus crewman in LCVP and 02 or 03 players to resuply the ship's cannon.

2.3 The LCVP (Crates) come alongside the vessel, they come down the stairs, reloading your ammo box and return to recharge the ship's cannon.

2.4 Thus I believe that the time to do this operation, would cause the firing of artillery are used correctly or we will not have the player lone wolf in ship's artillery, would have the full squad of artillery in vessel.

3) The LCVP (Logistics) could taking the beach after troops would support the construction of FOB and mortars, resuply the soldiers (ammunition, medicines) to allies continue to progress for the other flags

If I am wrong please correct me, I do not know because the complexity to put this into practice in game

maybe even a higgs boat with a fake jeep inside and when you hit the beach right click and it spawns a willys

That'd be pretty awesome actually, and makes sense.
You could make it so they spawn after you cap a flag. You'd however need to think about griefers who'd simply waste them.

I'm found of these 2 ideas. It would greatly help the immersion as well as the need for more teamwork from the Allies.

I think that would be possible. Same with trucks too.

And if you really wanted to, tanks. However, I know the dday tanks (swimmers) didn't make it onto the beach, and the very few that did didnt do a whole bunch. This is just going off of a book I have which shows a bigger version of a higgins holding a sherman, but just throwing more stuff out there :)

Hm hm. I think those kind of LCVPs should only spawn once all the beach flags are taken. And no special texture is needed I guess. Maybe adding a symbol or a stripe of some sort is good enough to identify.

Btw AD, I think I remember someone modelling Bangalores. Are you planning on testing that idea still?
Just curious : P

I saw that ice killer did model some, if we had some preplaced destroyable wire on the shingles this would be great!! you would have to make sure the combat engi (or whoever would get it) made it to the shingle tho in the first place or youd be in trouble :/

Although I guess if this were the case you could just use incendiaries :P

I have the model, it "just" needs a texture, export, coding and most important, a good animation.

looks awesome but I'm a little concerned about cloudspotting static posistions being too powerful.

I think the best idea was reload time be longer so that it will be good for camping emplacements but the enemy can still recover their wounded, as to not totally own. To do that one you could make it work like a "magazine system" where you can fire 3-5 shots and then you need to reload which takes about 1:30-2:30 minutes. Perhaps they could be a little innaccurate as well. 2 Ammo bags would equal one magazine. Or you could add a "overheat" to it with some sort of bell to sound off when you've "overheated, iniating the "reload time".

maybe you could counter griefing by requiring a crewman kit to pilot boats
