Re: An Open Letter to all Serious-Pants Players
I'll gladly help the server to get seeded and be some kind of kickstarter for the playerbase but I'm not interested in any kind of administration position, as I lack the time necessary for that.

Re: An Open Letter to all Serious-Pants Players
3rd Option. Apply to be an admin at PRTA, and discuss your ideas with me and some other guys. See if we can refine our rules and how things operate. Get some more of your friends to help seed it. We got people but they are burned out, and i think its best to have a fresh look at things.Acemantura wrote:TG is leaving, at least until the next patch.
I do not want to see that server leave the mix of servers, or more appropriately I want to see that server active enough to set an example for the rest of the community.
So I have two choices:
- Make my own server with similar rules and hope I have enough admins who can administrate to that level of gameplay. A choice not out of the question, but rather difficult because of my admins personal preferences of gameplay and server freedoms.
- The other choice would be to hand one of my available CPU cores over to the community and see if they want their "TG" back.
The first, though easiest for the community, may not be the best for the PRMod's survival as TG"s server has set such a high bar of community, teamwork, and casual professionalism that I do not believe CIA can replicate entirely.
The second choice, and in my eyes the best choice, would produce so many more "goods." CIA would have donations, the community would have their TG back, and as it would be community driven, it would be able to be shut down for TG's eventual comeback. And these are things I think everyone will be very happy with.
If we were to do this, we would need to congregate and discuss every aspect of this server so that it simply works and no fights for control or a debate of server operation occur while it is up. I think we can make our starting point the current rules for TG's server (please don't delete them, wherever they exist) and from there we can decide to keep them (the most likely decision) or to tweak them per the community's discussions.
As far as I know, something like this is already being done in the PRTA organization with tons of admins coming from every which way, but regrettably not with consistent standards of quality. This can be remedied in any way you like. I have to make a YouTube video or two so I can train my own admins en masse but however you want to add administrators or simply keep the current administrators, it is all up to who shows up.
This server will be any which way you want it, "you" being the operative term in this whole idea. TG failed because no one spent the time to seed. Are you afraid to waste your time on a server that will crash constantly? Don't worry about it, I guarantee the same or greater level of stability in my own servers. Are you worried about wasting time in the server just waiting for pop? If there is enough support for this server, the problem will take care of itself.
So you ask yourself, "What do I do? I want the server back, but I don't have the money/time/patience to help." If you have one of those qualities, or even one I haven't mentioned, come forward, PM me, post here, make some noise. Let the community know about your existence, because if they see one person, another will come, and another.
So let the community speak and be heard, do you want your TG back, is my proposal even necessary?
Speak.

How about you bring your admins to us? This way we can see if your administrative styles are compatible with those of a TG-style server. If so, I'll hand off this project to whomever will take it.
And for those in the community that want to see how things are moving along, check out this linksee how and where things are moving.
Again, this invitation is open to everyone. Join the growing list of supporting and contributing players of this server and the PR Mod.

I was a TG regular myself, I'll be busy for roughly a week or so now but after that I will be free on evenings to help the server out. I would be interested in joining the admin team, despite the fact that my skills at this are currently untested though I do I have a cool head and would be more than happy to learn the ropes.

The project sounds very hopeful, as long as people are willing to contribute to it and set it out as properly as possible. I don't really have a personal opinion about involving PRTA in it because it would imply questioning a lot and require clear long-sighted foresight.
I'm a PRTA admin but I added you on xfire as an independant player though, for an eventual discussion, accept it if you don't mind Ace

the project is going to succeed when everyone is gonna invite friends and all TG gamers on xfire in the server... when we have enough seeders... when we have enough mature admins... when the server is gonna have strict and correct rules and when the admins make the right choises and listen to people...
i hope so... but first of all we realy need to be thankfull to Acemantura since he is the on with the greatest heart and the initiative about this project

Mert is absolutely correct. These are the things that made TG great and now that we know what works we can put that stuff togetherMertSahin wrote:the project is going to succeed when everyone is gonna invite friends and all TG gamers on xfire in the server... when we have enough seeders... when we have enough mature admins... when the server is gonna have strict and correct rules and when the admins make the right choises and listen to people...

While self promotings great. Not everything is about PRTA.sr.bambino wrote:Why don't u all just put your support behind PRTA: North America? The server is in central canada (I believe) so low ping is too be expected. Furthermore, PRTA has pretty solid admins, our servers regularly have higher amounts of team work. Furthermore, PRTA has run some successful events, the larger the team-work-oriented players the more and better events we (the PR community) will have.
While Ace is starting it, it still requires those of you volunteering to support it to carry it on/make it flourish.

Re: An Open Letter to all Serious-Pants Players
I remember playing on TG when I first found the PR mod, back in Dec 2010.
I got my *** handed to me, but the game was much like the only other FPS I played, America's Army 2.
The help I got through TG let me ramp up quickly, at this point that is the one big glaring missing ingredient in the PR universe.
I'll be glad to help out as needed, just don't ask me to fly.

Can't believe I didn't bump heads with this thread sooner.
Pretty excited and wish all the best. Signed up on CIA and shared a couple of thoughts. I'm more than happy to commit to monthly donations if we can make this shine like the concept that is being presented here.
Strict rules, stern yet respectful admins and a devoted quality server community can make this happen. This is the Conga line I've been waiting to join in on.

Devotion is what it takes from players.
I am the gardener, you (players) are the plant. I water and prune, you need to grow.

I've always enjoyed TG when I went there, really had no problems with anyone doing anything.Acemantura wrote:Devotion is what it takes from players.

I think, IMO, Tactical Gamer should set up their server. Make a poll on your website, perhaps, about rules and such about things.
If people are that immature to "try and take control" of the server, when it's a community thing, doesn't really make any sense. Have 1 person (yourself, I'd assume) to control who has admin. Do not give people admin because "I want admin because I'm a dedicated member of this society blablabla", but to people who are willing to donate time to help keep the server running.
That being said, I really hope to see your server come back. Not sure why it was removed in all honesty. Good luck!

Re: An Open Letter to all Serious-Pants Players
Saying PRTA doesn't have solid admins is just BS. I understand where you guys are coming from but TG had that awful "kicked for member" feature, which I think we all can agree on was beyond annoying, at least for the non-members.
I rarely play PR anymore but most of the times I get a good time on PRTA and a good part of old TG players have moved on to that server and it's almost always full.
Yes TG was a good server and we will all miss it but get a grip and start supporting a new server of your choice. IMO PRTA is a great place to start and they have good admins. There will always be hick-ups when it comes to admins on a server I even encountered bad adminship on TG.

Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading

Re: An Open Letter to all Serious-Pants Players
This idea here is to have TG without TG.
The Server's developer team is working to make it a reality, without that awful supporting member kick.
And I am proud to say that we are close to opening to the public.

Ehm, PRTA only started getting regularly full like 2-3 days ago, before that it was almost always dead for a couple of months or more.Sgt. Mahi wrote:I get a good time on PRTA and a good part of old TG players have moved on to that server and it's almost always full.

Now, now we're not here to discuss who's server was/is best. Servers work like companies, basically if there's no demand there's no product.Stealthgato wrote:Ehm, PRTA only started getting regularly full like 2-3 days ago, before that it was almost always dead for a couple of months or more.
