qs-racer,
That is NOT related to the Windows 8 incompatibility with PRMumble overlay.

FOR THOSE HAVING THE PROBLEM WITH THE "HUD" DISAPPEARING WHEN ALT+TAB'ing, I FOUND A FIX!
When you ALT+TAB and are done doing your thing and get back to the game, the HUD should be gone, but no worries, while in the game, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and open the task manager, it should jump straight back into the game and HUD should be there again.
Works like a sharm for me, was about to give up!
Works perfectly! Thanks for the great share man

PR Mumble overlay works for me after this:
Strepto wrote:Hi!
I think I have a solution to the Windows 8 mumble overlay problem.
Guide to fix it:
- Shut down PR Mumble.
- Go to your PR Mumble folder - mine was in ("C:\Program Files (x86)\PR Mumble").
- Rename the file named mumble_ol.dll to mumble_ol_backup.dll (if the fix does not work I recommend switching back to this file)
- Copy the file from the link below to the PR Mumble folder. Effectively replacing the file that you renamed (the new file should be named mumble_ol.dll). (If you download the .zip remember to unzip it)
- EDIT: See my next post in this tread, new instructions from here.
This worked for me!
If anyone else on Windows 8 can try this fix and confirm it works, that would be ace!
This is the mumble_ol.dll from the latest Snapshot build of Mumble (2013-06-12), the same file is attached as a .zip if my link dies in the future.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/d39v61l12tiyv98/mumble_ol.dll
I run PR Mumble "as admin" and with -m startup flag and PR also "as admin".
Moreover Alt-Tabbing PR in fullscreen works for me after closing MSI Afterburner. Works also with MSI Afterburner latest beta:
http://download1.msi.com/files/download ... Beta11.zip
Seems that AB's overlay causes this. Probably some other softwares' OSD could cause this too...

Hm I reinstalled windows 8 today and this time the overlay works with OP's method (copying mumble_ol file) I have no idea why it works now and not before.
The only thing I can remember doing differently was
I had UAC completely disabled through the registry before installing anything. (
Disabling User Account Control in Windows 8 - Yash's Blog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs about a third way down)

Thanks for the update. I had it working one too briefly and then it stopped working after updates.

Is there anyonw who _won't_ get their HUD back with the Ctr+ALt+Delete trick? Since that trick doesn't work for me. Im installing BF2 + PR again to see if it would help. Closing all other programs didn't help.
Edit: I closed more programs from task manager + disabled 2nd screen and now the Ctr+ALt+Delete trick works.
Now I need to find what was the program causing this not to work...
Edit2: Okay I have wound the problem causing not to get back my HUD with Ctr+ALt+Delete
When I disabled my 2nd screen the HUD came back by Ctr+ALt+Delete. But when I enabled it again and used alt tab the Ctr+ALt+Delete trick didn't do it's trick.
My Primary monitor is connected to AMD Radeon HD6950 GPU (with 6970BIOS) and my secondary monitor is connected on Intel i5 2500k's integrated GPU "Intel HD Graphics 3000".

Seems to me that Alt Tab bug is gone after I installed 1.0.31.0. Not a single HUD was lost tonight.
Edit: [17:59:21] <@AncientMan> turns out 31 fixed the alt-tab no hud bug on windows 8
[17:59:31] <@AncientMan> because i removed win xp sp3 compatibility on PRBF2.exe

Anyone with Windows 8 still having problems with the Mumble overlay or HUD bugs? I'm thinking about biting the bullet and upgrading from Win 7.

there is no more mumble overlay so yeah, but I think the HUD bug is still there yeah. i just play in windowed mode. WIN8 is worth cause of the better optimized OS (speed!) and some nice little additions I just can't live without now.(mounting of ISO's build in, better explorer,...)

Not exactly. There have been instances where you can hear you squad mates talking but their names don't come up on screen.
I'm thinking of making the jump to Win 8 for BF4. It would be nice if I could still play PR without many problems. From what Wicca posted, I think it should be fine. I was just curious if anyone was still having problems with playing PR on Win 8.

That happens on all OS has nothing to do with mumble overlay.

But don't you mean if it does that in all OS's, then it has nothing to do with Win 8 and everything to do with Mumble?

no, it's PR related.
