Agreed. That would come in handy.

Everything on high except for terrain&effects on low to make spotting stuff while gunning/driving/flying easier.

may I ask why do you set effects on low? I mean if you put effects on high you will see where the bullets hit from much more far away

To minimize or remove: smoke grenades, mortar/missile/cannon explosion smoke effects, smoke from shooting a tank round and possibly some other things I forgot to mention. Only con is that you do not see explosion effects of vehicles blowing up while gunning an attack heli but following your score will tell you whether you destroy something or not anyways.

The bullet thing, in my opinion seeing where the bullets hit in the wall or ground doesn't really help that much, I usually have a really good feel of how my deviation is gonna be (based on how I've moved in the past 10 seconds) so I just wait for the necessary time and then shoot. Eventually after shooting enough everyone finally drops :) And in armor you have tracers no matter what effect setting so you don't require to see the bullet hits in gunning either.

And us poor infantrymen, who deploy smoke not to be spotted by you guys? You're being unfair :p

Textures low,

geometry high,

shadow medium,

lightning high,

effects high,

terrain low,

4x

For some reason arma 3 beta runs better in my pc than PR does, Lolwut...?

For that reason i think there should be a way of "blocking" certain settings so they can't be set lower than medium, Cause sometimes you're using shadows to hide yo self, or maybe that nice dense bush, and the other dude is running the game on SUPER LOW and can detect you from 500 meters away.

Tell me how's this different from glitching inside a wall and killing everyone outside?

Having low graphics due to PC performance issues is one thing but when you clearly say that is to have a CLEAR ADVANTAGE over the adversary it should be considered as a clear exploit.

lol, it doesn't change to being glitching if i have a better pc than some random playing with an old laptop but use the same graphics. It's different from glitching inside a wall because I can still be killed, learn the difference Sherlock.

An exploit, in video games, is the use of a bug or glitches, rates, hit boxes, or speed, etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers.[1] It is often colloquially abbreviated sploit. Exploits have never been classified as a form of cheating
-Wikipedia

It does change to an exploit when you do it on purpose, 'cause you know Devs don't want it and you have the power to run at full-medium settings and not the LOW crappy-bugged ones.
viirusiiseli wrote:It's different from glitching inside a wall because I can still be killed
Are you saying that only if manage a way to kill without being killed is glitching? Well that's naive.

Now if only Nvidia and AMD would keep implementing performance improvements for DX9 games specifically for BF2 in their drivers...

I support turista here. Using low graphic solo on the purpose to abuse the spotting ability of it is kinda using an exploit or at least gives you an HUGE unfair advantage.

The amount of times I'VE been shot through smoke means I feel silly not being on low. If we remove smoke grenades that'd free up the slot for patches.

The lowest settings that made exploits possible are removed for 1.0. So you can no longer play with the lowest settings. It switches them back up so you can't exploit.

Realistically in 2013 the only reason you would need to play on the lowest settings on a game engine made in 2005 would be if you are exploiting.

And for the love of god hell no to removing smoke grenades. They are one of the best tactical weapons we have to hide from long range shooters and to cross camped roads.

Not to mention medic without smoke grenades is just failure.

You could have always locked the game to a certain FPS to match your monitor's refresh rate.

Open the BF2 console by pressing the tilde ~
Type game.lockfps 60 or 120 or whatever your refresh rate is. Press Enter. Profit

You can even have the game tell you your FPS with renderer.drawfps 1
