Round windows are the strongest type of window design.

The Comet which was one of the early jet airliner designs had square windows and these eventually caused major failures in the structure due to metal fatigue from the cabin being pressurise during flight and the corners is where the most stress is applied in a square design (even with rounded corners)

Round windows have any pressure put on the them equally distributed around the window.

That was VERY interesting about the 'porthole' design.

Thank you Rhino.

I remember watching a documentary about this some time ago. Thanks

Like a few has mentioned I would be worried if in the beach assault maps if the US didn't have a heavy lift chopper but I assume for v1 that's been thought of.
I think it would be acceptable for both the French and German forces to have a RAF chinook available as that is a likely scenario these days.

How about to attach parachutes to the Osprey's supply crates? I mean, pilot may have a chance to select his drop type, either landing and unloading, fast deploy or with parachute, fast unload but rather slow deploy, since waiting for cargo to land.

+1 to this, after the first 10 minutes or so the Osprey pilot is just going to be doing near nothing on maps where the forward points (rightly) don't have landing spots for it. A paradrop supply crate would mean they could resup fobs and would require a good amount of skill.

Sounds like good idea. But to balance things, doing parradrop should use both crates, so you can only drop one create instead of two.

The idea has actually came up in the dev forums for the MV-22 but so far not much has been done about it :p

We are also still unsure how common/realistic it is for the MV-22 to deploy crates like this in a combat zone.

Well, I bet it's better then coming to a full stop and landing... :-P

Has the flight model been touched on the MV-22 or are they still like before?
What are the wheels like compared to the skids? I have a feeling everyone is going to be bouncing all over the place rather than sliding like before, lol.
Also whatever happened to miniguns on Chinooks :(

For the MV-22 will you have a M240 mounted at the back for some of the maps? (like this picture)

The MV-22 hasn't been in PR before, and if you mean from AIX, yes.

Wheels don't bounce any more than skids, you will just roll rather than slide when you touch down until you pull back on your stick. If you want to try it load up PR:F in v0.98 and try one of the wheeled choppers in that like the Wessex or the Chinook.

And the Chinook never had miniguns in PR.

The USMC started to retire the CH-53E back in 2009.

Possibly at some point in the future but not in v1.0 as for starters we don't have a mount on the ramp to put a weapon on and we also don't have that version of the M240 made that's used in aircraft, that has its buttstock replaced with those grips etc.

I just wanted to say thank you for your input on the CH-53 Super Stallion, and your right they are getting replaced with 225 CH-53K beginning in 2018. In this link below it will be able to show aircraft currently active or retired or being replaced.

And now all we need is a model for it which for starters, isn't very easy to make since its still in development and the only real things we would have to work off is concept renders like this:
Image

And then its pretty low priority on our list since the USMC already has a Heavy Lift Transport/Utility Aircraft, be it as it may a Tiltrotor instead of a true Helicopter but still dose the same basic job.

Instead what is a higher priority for us is something like the CH-53G (which is part of the Sea Stallion Family, not Super Stallion which is pretty different) for the German's Heavy Lift Chopper as just one example as that fills a gap for something we don't already have for that faction.

According to the Wiki they where at least planning on starting to retire the E back in 2009 too, but may have extended that :p
The Marines are planning to start retiring CH-53Es in 2009 and need new helicopters very quickly.
But afaik, its still planned to be retired pretty soonish, so it fits into the same catogary as the Sea Knight, as not worth making (other than for historical maps) as by the time its made we wouldn't be able to use it ingame.

That was before sequestration and the other budget issues. It's still going to be years before the K even comes into service thanks to other things. It is nowhere near the same category as the Sea Knight.
