Yeah ive always liked the Rapier even though its from the 70s its always looked ahead of its age and generally had that "dont fly anywhere near that" appeal. The starstreak missile is for sure one of the coolest manpads out there ,though it probably couldn't be simulated in game specifically the way it divides into 3 sub munitions. Still its good to see the Brits have managed to keep a good amount of ingenuity and uniqueness when it comes to killing bad guys and it would be nice to simulate some of this in game.

The orignal Rapier did look like this mind you
Had a few updates since then
And ye, ingame we just have the starstreak behave as one missile as we can't really simulate the 3 darts flying out from it other than from the explosion radius of the missile

Yeah I known its had some major facelifts since the 70s but it still looks slick even the originals, even Iran agrees:
It would be cool to have radars as well so you can see where all the aircraft are if they fly over 50 meters though it would probably be impossible with the BF2 engine and might make PR seem too focused on aircraft, but a man can dream.

The reason why it seems sometimes that the AA blows up on a flare is actually because the flare is near the aircraft (normally a chopper) and it detects itself going further away from that target (not the one its tracking, being a flare) so it detonates causing minimal damage to the aircraft.
But if you fire a missile at a flare no where near any aircraft, you will see it dose not blow up on it and just passes by it.
A nice example for this at 01:10 :
And another one at 02:00 :
Dont even know what happened there, missile should have detonated next to the Tornado. Instead it passed and locked onto the friendly Cow, + killing the Havoc next to it. I guess the AA missile was not locked completely on the tornado when the Mig fired it, causing it to ignore the tornado...still weird.

Ye a bit of an odd one there, possibly server lag, possibly the missile didn't arm in time to explode (dunno about that just a guess, would need to look at the code) or just some other screwed up thing in BF2
But ye, good example of missiles redirecting off targets

I'mma lock this before it gets any more out of hand. I think every point has been made by now.
