You are right buddy but meet the internet.
This is something that will fade in times , not entirely , but from chat.
You will only see this spoken locally just small laughter to pass the walking time until the action.

Think about it, on local speech, you have probably heard laughs at any faction.
When we all say "Allahu wakbar" when we play an Arab , some might find it insulting.
As an Israeli , I remember playing Hamas, and someone from my squad was like "shoot the jew" on the enemy IDF soldier. I wasn't insulted from that, as racist as it sounded, I just laughed along, that's all.

This post wont change much, you will not see jokes appearing in chat soon, but always on local/squad VOIP

I can't remember anyone ever making any Jokes about UK/USA - since a large part of the playerbase is from this region. I can understand the OP, since most of those racist comments and stereotypes are getting old - especially when they come from players from the UK/USA.

Sure it can be fun, if those jokes are at least a bit original, fit the situation and aren't just plain dumb racism, but most of the time they aren't.

'[R-DEV wrote:Hauteclocque;1931344']The thing is French jokes are usually way more disrepectful than others.

Frog/cheese eaters, and their equivalents for other nations are ok, we can all accept that.

The fact that someone from a country without any real history (I won't quote any, otherwise, we'll start a flame war) comments something with white flag like jokes makes me spit.
That surely will help your cause.

Since I understood a long time ago this will never stop, I'm playing the same game, altough it's usually more elaborate.

THIS is funny, if people made more often this kind of jokes, I wouldn't even bother commenting this thread. :)

@Sockman: seeing your age, I can understand you don't figure out the concept of disrespect, don't worry.

And if I worded my sentence with a harsh bit, it was with only one purpose, making people react to something that isn't true, the same way we (French people) react to those white flag jokes.

Seems it worked.

So you are a part of the problem... Nice.

Also, nice to see you insult Sockman due to his age. Real classy!

Death! wrote:I find your butthurt very funny, OP.

I remember once when nAyo was calling me a monkey, I just asked if he has been surrendering already that day, then we laughed together. Uncle Dante was making "huehue" jokes on me when we were in a squad together, then I just said "you can't even troll me, dude. You are swedish, thus an androgynous faggot by default" and again, we laughed.

You guys take that **** too serious. This is the internet, lads. It is a place to make friends, not get butthurt with every silly joke.
This is exactly what is NOT happening these days, the jokes are not "in context", you responded to something, it was the current situation that made you say such thing, and so on.
Currently, the map load, and the jokes start, with no reason, way before the round started. It's just boring. I'm glad you find all this funny.

I mean, if, let's say, the Chinese assault a FF position, and someone go "Come on guys, surrender already, take your white flags out and we'll spare you" or something like this, okay.
The round start and some random players go all "WE SURRENDER!" "what is the key for surrender?" "where are the white flags?" This... not okay, it's just annoying, not even remotely funny.

It's all about context, and again, when you hear those jokes 20 times a day, they are no longer jokes and they get offensive rather quickly.

I know the same happened on WoT when they released the French tanks, and the jokes still flows whenever an announcement is made about anything French.

Now you can tell me every nations have those jokes going on, but I've been playing on a regular basis since 0.3 and I never saw SO MANY "jokes" either in game or on the forum about any nation. Okay there are often puns on squad names but I would infinitely prefer those, and would actually be one of the first to make a "cheese/frog eaters" or "white flag bearers" squad if I was squadleading, other nations jokes don't target the military... I can only imagine the reaction of you fellow americans if anyone was to start joking about the lack of bravery of the USMC or US army, you, who are so proud of your Nation and even more of its military force...

Like Haute said, those jokes have been on for a very long time now, whenever something was posted on the forum there was always like a dozen posts solely for those "jokes"

Now thank you all with your sarcasm, I know what the internet is and what it's made of, I know how to handle bad jokes, I just wanted to share my opinion, and ask for a simple thing, that might surprise you... but this is also a part of what the internet is for...

You simply don't pay attention to jokes and remarks made towards other nations/ideologies/etc. because they are there, always, at any time. You're just oversensitive regarding this subject since it "directly" (as much as someone can correlate to an entire nation/country) affects you.
'[R-DEV wrote:Hauteclocque;1931458']And if I worded my sentence with a harsh bit, it was with only one purpose, making people react to something that isn't true, the same way we (French people) react to those white flag jokes.
May I ask how you do you allow yourself to speak in the name of an entire nation? You and some others are butthurt over this. I know plenty of French that don't react in the slightest over these remarks and many more just jump on the wagon and enjoy a bit of friendly banter.

The french butthurt with the surrender jokes is reaching hilarious levels. I don't know if they stopped teaching this in the internet introduction course, but nothing is to be taken seriously, the same way that, on the internet, nothing is sacred. If you're French, you surrender. If you're German, you're a nazi. If you're American, you're fat. If you're Israeli, you're a gold chasing Jew. If you're Brazilian, you're a money begging monkey. That's internet nationalities for you, they've been around long before you came along and they'll stay long after you're gone, you can't change that.

Also.

You know what they say. If a man builds hundred bridges and gives one blowjob he's not know as a bridge builder. He is known as a **** sucker.

Quote of the month for sure. :D

@Brainlaag: you're analyzing way too much my words, did I say "the French people" ?

As an Italian you should understand our situation, since you can transfer pretty much every joke about French military to French language with Italian military jokes.

Up to you guys if you want to hide your lack of discernment behing "this is the internet" sentences, you wouldn't do those jokes it in front of me IRL.

And I wanted to have a white flag model in the French ACV as an Easter egg, you don't really deserve it.

Lol, I remember when someone killed two guys of my squad with friendly fire on Saarema. The guy said sorry so many times, I just laughed saying that shit happens and 'Murrica is not "Murrica without friendly fire. We laughed and carried on.
