No new assets or major gameplay tweaks planned for Muttrah in the near future sorry. The idea of a "Muttrah City v2.5" has been floating around my head for some time which would have quite a few significant changes to both gameplay and environment but right now got other stuff to finish and not got much time/energy right now either.
And yes, it was me who made Muttrah
I'd like to see how Muttrah City would be as a part of a bigger map.
So instead of having 5 flags in the city itself, it would have 2 or 3 flags (North City+Docks, Central City, South City+Fortress) and the rest desert-ish like Black Gold/Khamasiyah with pipelines, highways, factories and tunnels
MEC main would be an airport/whatever, US main would still be carrier

The only thing around Muttrah is more city, sea, mountains and a park with a giant incense burner
Nearest airport is ~35km away.
This is also not to mention that the largest map size, using ingame terrain, is 4km and working with scale 4 grids isn't going to work very well with things like the sea walls etc and 1/2 of the detail I put into the mountains and other bits of the terrain etc would be lost.

Indeed, you could only expand to the west, closer to Muscats City Center. But there are no big factories, pipelines or tunnels anywhere close to Matrah
Its just rocks (as you see them ingame, going all the way north and south along the coast) and some smaller villages inside of them.
Muttrah is near perfect in scale and detail compared to real life so it would be non-sense to scrap that by adding fictional stuff.

Now, now boys.
I updated my Original Post. With Under played maps.
Can a Dev add a poll to this thread?
Question...
Do you think maps are over played?
Answers...
Yes!
No!

The thing that bothers me is that PR got around 50 or 60 maps if i am correct.
I play this game since the beta and after the 1.0 release i began to dislike Muttrah, it is a nice map but the thing is that there are so much other maps, I want to fight on those maps! Like Wanda Shan and Tad sae and many others i dont even know the name of because i never played those maps!
Is it because they are so bad? I guess not because the devs and the mod is awesome.
The feeling of not knowing the map is in my opinion more realistic, when you are in battle irl you don't know the exact locations either right?! only your map.
When votes are up im almost always voting for the less known.

Well, you guys get my point.
After I put up my previous comment I went looking to the surroundings of Muttrah and I really thought it would be interesting.
Especially if it would be so that the US has to break it's way in into Muttrah and down to Lulwa or east into Riyam Park.
Nowadays the action is happening in North City and Center (?) flag, where the gas-station is, which makes playing Muttrah quite predictable.
But there's a hell lot of buildings in Lulwa.
Just an idea. We can't have the same maps forever, and I love Muttrah

They are all great maps.
Wanda Shan is a good map when the village is in play. (Good combat)
Tad Sae is epic.

Here's a link to the server forums. Go there and post this concern we all have with the map voting system and the same ole maps being played. Hopefully each server thread will respond with a statement.

This thread is not about the 'server map voting'
It's about the overplayed and underplayed maps. (Simple enough)
Pretty much I get really excited when AAS (Infantry layout) is on the next map. It's making more tactical.
I think it's easy to conclude... Infantry Layouts are underplayed.

I play PR regularly and I'd say the underplayed ones are:
Yamalia: Never see it played. I remember playing it once in 2013...
Silent Eagle: Used to be played somewhat, but I don't see it anywhere now. Played it once in 2 months.
Vadso City: One of my favorites, also played it once in 2 months. The mapper even made changes on the last versions to put the southern area in play but I still haven't seen those flags.
Wanda Shan: Played it like 2 times since 1.0 came out.
Kozelsk: Played 1 or 2 times in 2013. Was suprised the last time I played it. Had like 50 people on a server running Muttrah and Kozelsk were voted for next and I was like "nice, but I don't wanna play 10vs10 on the next round so let's what else in the server list". Surprisingly, the server actually went to 80 to 100 and ended with 70.
All maps on the infantry layer. I don't get why admins never run infantry layer on any maps.

INF layers are usually more demanding and require people to work more together. While this my not seem like an issue, admins fear that due to the weak playerbase the server population might dwindle.

Again this thread isn't about why admins do not vote. Go to server feedback for that.
And I remember playing muttrah inf
Best round I had on muttrah in a while.
It's like no one wants to teamwork anymore.

He asked a question, I answered. You should step on the ball for a second and think things through instead of throwing around posts and threads, makes you look like that cat on speed in your sig.
matty1053 wrote:It's like no one wants to teamwork anymore.
What gave it away, the fact that the best servers are dead, the fact that it's necessary to drag every word out of a SLs mouth in order to get him to communicate?
It's not all that bad, you can still good rounds, just that they are even rarer than they used to be.

Sorry about the question he asked. I read it differently.

Overplayed: Muttrah, Al Basrah, Fallujah,
Underplayed: Black Gold, Yamalia, Dovre and Dragon Fly
My own opinion .. Getting real sick of Muttrah here.

Yeah. Agreed
But. Dovre is played a lot on CIA after their server crash map.
Dragon fly is my 10th fave.

I would love to see Qinling back, of the few "Equal asset maps" it had a great variety of vehicle action and is more infantry friendly than Khami or Kashan ( great for vehicle action, but INF = bunker warfare = get grenaded, respawn, grenade them, get killed again rinse and repeat). It is also has much more wiggle room for "out of the box" strategies with plenty of trees for cover and is much more detailed than Kashan or even Muttrah...

I've not played PR since a little before Christmias, you're probably right. I'll see when I come back.
I loved Dovre.

@X-ALT
IKR?
I thought infantry combat was excelent on it.
Plus, that map was played semi-often.
(If they added a few more villages or such, i think that map would be the better map.)
Another thing why they probably removed it, the fact that every round. There was a enemy AA at the end of your teams runway. So, it's impossible really to be CAS w/o getting shot down.
